Even in today's society it's more acceptable for a woman to be with another woman, than a man with another man. It's a sad state of affairs, and sickening how closed minded people are.
I've had long-term relationships with women, and I'm now married to a man. I have guy friends who were in relationships with women, had a kid or two, split up and married another guy.
It shouldn't matter the gender of the other person, sex is sex, lust is lust, love is love.

I don't really think it's anything to do with how acceptable it is in society, I think men just don't tend to think the same way women do about members of the same sex.
