Do you think Lab Ray training your pet is better than training your pet at the training schools?

Do you lose more than you gain if you do so?
Faster?

Opinions?

If you didn't care what specie/color your pet is, would that change your answer to yes?

    Referring to question one.

    Shit like

    +5 HP
    -2 LVL
    -2 LVL
    -3 Defense

is really rage-inducing. Certainly less tedious than training school, but I'm not sure about better

The answer is, quite frankly, that it depends on your pet.

First, you have to consider the cost of what it'll take to actually train it. Then, you have to consider the amount of time you're potentially adding or removing by using the lab ray. After all of this, there's still the possibility that you'll end up with an EXTREMELY deviated pet: Level 1, 845 HP, 221 STR, 10 DEF, 567 AGI.

I find Lab Ray useful. I even had my dream pet but still, just for extra stats I started to zap it and I don't regret for starting to use the ray.

    Based on these stats,

    Lose Strength: 5.1%
    Lose Levels: 5.5%
    Lose Movement: 4.9%
    Lose Defence: 4.9%
    Back to Level 1: 7.4%
    Gain Levels: 5%
    Gain Movement: 10.6%
    Gain Defence: 6.1%
    Gain Hit Points: 14.2%
    Gain Strength: 9.2%
    Colour Change: 9%
    Species Change: 5.4%
    Gender Change: 7.6%
    No Change At All: 5.1%

it's likely that you'll end up with a pet with a comparatively monstrous amount of HP. Unless you don't mind that consequence + the complete lack of control over what changes + doing away with pet-specific BD items, I recommend training schools / negg training.

Based on the statistics you gain more than lose.
But I keep record since the beginning of this year and my BD pet lost far more.

Lab Ray should be a supplement to training/negging. If it gives more HP, then use schools for strength/def.

Whoa, something looks a bit off with that :o I've gotten WAY more -def zaps than +, and my lab rat started with ~25def is down to what, 12 now? Something like that :c

Variance...until you've done about 1K zaps, can't really begin to make conclusions.

I see...so from what I've gathered, lab training will lead to weird stats. I think I'll stick to training my pet via school until I get to a higher level then.

Like others have said before, lab ray will skew your stats so that you get HP and str and lose some defence and levels. Some stats are here: http://lablog.sunnyneo.com/stats.php

Personally I would start zapping alongside training school as soon as my pet would hit level 20 (so it can't get "goes to level 1 zap"). If you use training school every day you can keep your stats even.

Also you could consider doing kitchen quests if you have only one pet in your account.

EDIT: Using many simultaneous training method at the same time is of course faster. After initial investment, lab ray is free but you need to use training school / neggs if you want to keep your stats even. Lab ray's net gain on stats is greatly positive.

If you're making a good profit from your daily ABing, use Armoured Neggs and train the other stats (minus speed) at the training schools.

I prefer training schools because I hate having uneven, untrainable pets (i.e. level 4, health 120, agility 100, defense 30).

Why aren't you guys doing both? Again, if lab is adding tons of HP, simply train everything but HP in the schools.

Why would you ever let your pet get that way? As soon as Health was high, I'd train level and Def

+2 points on team Lab Ray because I don't want to waste neopoints in the Trading School. -1 for costing more than all the codestones combined x 10 for the lab map.

You can get to 140 HSD before you have to start using two codestones per lesson (level 20, str/def/agi 40, hp 60).
From a starter pet, that's about 175 codestones.
Assuming each costs about 4k on average, that's about 700k.

The question is how long does it take to get equivalent stats with the lab ray?

Good point, good point. Not to mention on the day of the year of your pets species.

On the minus side, the school doesn't change my pets into awesome colors. On the plus side, the school doesn't change my pet. xD

Because the lab will never take away HP, so it's possible to end up with something ridiculous like 580 HP and level 1. Plus, the amount of money you'd spend just trying to stabilize those stats is by far more than you'll spend doing it manually. Codestones go up exponentially based on your current level. You'd be spending 6 codestones at level 250 trying to get your STR up from 10 to 11.

You have to remember the lab itself costs ~1.4M to even get.

My pet is extremely messed up thanks to the lab. I've trained it beyond level 30 a few times, but it seems to like lowering it back to around 10. Same with my defense. I don't think it has ever raised my defense. The HP boosts are definitely helpful, though. If you aren't planning on doing competitive battling, the lab will give you a fairly good pet (in the long run). I just zap mine on the off-chance a war comes out.
