(Please close this thread on Tuesday :D)

Okay so I finally know what to take..Economics one semester and Art 3-D the next, because I'm lacking credits in Econ + Fine Art.

HOWEVER,
My guidance counselor said that I was not able to drop AP Literature, as I would be missing my 4th English credit for school...wtf?

Did ENC 1101 (Freshman English Composition) not count?

My boyfriend and some of his friends that attend a different school 20 minutes away in the same county were able to drop the class (we were all in the same summer English class) but I'm not?
Is this a school thing and not a county thing?

Am I wrong or is my guidance counselor retarded?

If she's right, then I have to take English IV online, which may or may not be a pain in the ass. o;

Does anyone know?|:

    This probably isn't the best place to get advice for this...

    All I can suggest is that you make sure your summer classes are on your transcript. Guidance counselors (in my experience) try really hard to prevent students from dropping "core" classes, especially AP classes. Read through your graduation requirements, and if you are sure that you don't need the class, keep pushing with your guidance counselor. Good luck!

    It was my only shot :p
    People have been helpful about this before, so I thought I'd try :D

    All I know is that I need 4 English credits to graduate (out of 24), and I was told that the class I took over the summer (by my boyfriend, his friends, and their guidance counselors) would count, but according to my guidance counselor, it doesn't o;

    And I don't exactly trust her judgement,..and she's not exactly a nice person.. :p (the fact that she's the cheerleading coach doesn't make it any better)

    When you get to university, this will probably make more sense. Composition courses, literature courses and English courses are not the same thing. What she is saying makes sense to me, though it's weird that they would make you take a composition class your freshman year if it didn't go toward your curriculum requirements for your diploma.

    Whoops. I guess I should clarify, it was a dual enrollment class, if that makes any difference >.<

    Or maybe I'm not understanding what you're saying? ._.

    I took an English class meant for a freshman in college the summer after my junior year o:
    And my boyfriend and two of his friends, who are also seniors in high school, were in the same class as me.

    They're in a different school, but in the same county.
    And they were allowed to drop the class, because ENC 1101 replaced their 4th English credit.

    So I guess my question is,

    Why were they allowed to drop AP Lit from their schedule and not me?|: The only possible reason I could think of is that it differs for every school.. :mellow:

    ..I think you understood what I was saying, but I didn't understand what your last sentence meant. xD

    EDIT: And we took the class at a local community college.

    Probably because they went to different schools. Concurrent enrollment has a different impact on credits depending on the agreement between the specific high school and college.

    Why would you need to take it as an online class? What the hell are all of your credits going towards?

    The only class I had to take was English 4 for my senior year. The rest was getting my mcse, playing basketball, and playing video games.

    Cause I'm missing three credits to graduate high school, and I don't have enough room in my schedule. :p

    O:
    Sounds like you had fun. :D

    I think you're right, it's the only answer that makes sense. :p
