For the record, before I get redirected, I know there's a guide to stock market thread, etc. etc. etc. I'm not asking for advice, more just for curiosity to see what other players like to do with their stocks.

Personally, I try to wait until 75, then sell. It gets frustrating because often times my stocks will get to 60-65 then drop, but it's a game of patience, right? Although if in a couple months none of my stocks have hit 75, I'll probably change my threshold to the 60s. (Of course with Murphy's law, I'll sell it at 60 and it will end up going to the 70s :p).

I've found 58-60 to be quite profitable in just a few short months. Easily profiting 3m+

Considering the small amount of effort needed, not bad IMO.

The best way is probably to check how often a stock goes between 15 and your current sell value compared with how often it makes the same transition to say 60.

I always sell at 60. It usually works out pretty well. I barely have to do anything, especially now that I've discovered that handy dandy stock market GM script.

I usually say 60 and I think most people would too.

Waser, is there a database or something of past stock prices where you can check when/how often it reaches X price?

And oh, so would you guys recommend going for 60 instead of 75 then? Seems like an overwhelmingly large majority haha

There is a database, but we just haven't published the data yet. :p Hopefully it is coming soon.

    I normally sell at 60+.
Neodaq has stock data up to 2002, if you're into researching that kind of stuff.

Oh, sounds pretty cool! And actually, I am. I try to buy scratchcards every day and I have an excel spreadsheet of what type I get, what the prize is, and I crunch all sorts of numbers and probabilities based on it. :p I'm a math guy so that stuff's interesting to me.

I sell when it's at least 60 but usually at 65. I don't have the patience to wait for it to hit 70.

Neodaq has a database on past stock prices. If you look at the past performance of the stocks by seeing how many times a single stock has gone from 15 to a particular sell price, you can calculate what target sell price will give you the most profit. I haven't updated my sheet in almost a year, but if you have stock on hand, these are the sell prices that would have netted you the most profit if you always sold what you had on hand at that price:

    Stock Sell Point AAVL 55 ACFI 60 BB 45 BOTT 40 BUZZ 60 CHIA 45 CHPS 55 COFL 65 CYBU 60 DROO 65 EEEEE 55 FAER 55 FISH 55 HELT 50 HUW 60 KAUF 60 KBAT 65 KSON 50 LDSC 40 LUPE 75 MPC 55 MYNC 40 NAKR 30 NATN 45 PDSS 60 PEOP 55 POWR 65 SHRX 60 SKBD 60 SKEI 40 SMUG 65 SSS 50 STFP 60 SWNC 75 TAG 55 TNAH 65 TNPT 60 TPEG 30 TPP 40 TSRC 55 UNIB 50 VPTS 70 YIPP 60 Average 55

The average here is 55, which meshes with the general recommendation of 55-60. It's better to look at each individual stock though so some are better to sell at 70ish, while others are at 40.

Keep in mind that the number of times a stock reaches a certain price decreases at that chosen price increases. That's why you hit a midpoint where you optimize the highest price that occurs most often. This isn't considering that the number of stocks you can buy is a limiting factor, in which case the most profit comes from waiting until the stock reaches it's highest point in it's entire history. When you factor that in, you get target sell prices like this for each stock:
    Stock Sell Point AAVL 100 ACFI 85 BB 90 BOTT 90 BUZZ 85 CHIA 130 CHPS 70 COFL 80 CYBU 90 DROO 140 EEEEE 130 FAER 85 FISH 140 HELT 140 HUW 110 KAUF 110 KBAT 130 KSON 140 LDSC 140 LUPE 140 MPC 90 MYNC 140 NAKR 140 NATN 100 PDSS 110 PEOP 140 POWR 140 SHRX 120 SKBD 140 SKEI 90 SMUG 140 SSS 140 STFP 100 SWNC 140 TAG 100 TNAH 140 TNPT 140 TPEG 90 TPP 100 TSRC 110 UNIB 140 VPTS 140 YIPP 140 Average 85

Personally I don't like waiting that long, plus it's risky, so I prefer to stick with the sell points in the first table.

Edit: Looks like the tables aren't working out here, but you should be able to find your stock of interest.

Well I only just started getting into the stock market where I am freshly back but I had a few old stocks and sold one at about 100 thinking I was going to stick with that but most people sell lower. Guess I have a lot to learn

I hyperstock, sell point of 165. Results in 150k or profit per day that I login to the site... I don't get to pull out my cash often but meh I don't really need to either. Makes nearly 55million a year in profit so that's nice.

Hyper stocking is dropping all of your cash into only a couple different stocks then waiting for them to jump up to a huge price.

I sort of do this, I have like 60k in CHIA still waiting to get up there...

    what's the GM script?

i don't tend to view my stock portfolio that frequently so whenever I see anything above 50 I'll sell it. I made bank when one of my stocks hit 80.

also the game changes entirely when you do short term trading where you buy stocks that are already high in price and flip it once it goes even higher. the returns are greater and faster, but that much riskier

I have such a hard time convincing myself to sell my stocks for some reason. I don't know if I've ever sold any except when I switch accounts. It's kind of the same with items. I guess I just don't want to let go of things once I get them D=

But I never really thought that there might be an optimal price to sell at for the most profit. I guess because I didn't think of selling my stocks. Thanks for explaining that. I think I'll actually start selling them now.

I just came back from hiatus and one of my stocks is at 136. I've only got 7000 shares in it but not too shabby :3.

    http://userscripts.o...ipts/show/35177

That might be the GM script you're looking for? It just shows a summary in the sidebar when you go to the stocks page. You can set a buy/sell price and it will list which stocks are in that range.

I end up never selling for the most part. I just keep them and wait for a day when they will make me a billionaire - a day that never comes.
