Especially if you live in a city and on the ground floor and want to keep all your fingers.

http://news.sky.com/...r-in-cot-attack

A fox dragged a one-month-old baby from his cot and mauled his hand, biting off one finger, it has been reported.

The boy was left seriously injured after the animal crept into his bedroom in Bromley, southeast London.

His mother was alerted by his screaming and rushed into his room to see his hand in the animal's mouth, the Mail On Sunday reported.

After a short struggle, the mother managed to free him, but by then his finger had been ripped off.

Plastic surgeons were able to reattach the boy's finger and he is said to be recovering well at home.

The animal had got into the family home through an open backdoor

I feel so sorry for the mum because I know if it were me I'd never be able to shake the guilt or leave the baby unattended again without feeling panicky.

That is just plain terrifying D: re-reading it more awake this time, that wasn't the smartest move to leave the back door wide open. Hopefully they didn't catch and punish the animal, and hopefully the baby ends up alright.

Or, don't leave your back door open and completely unattended where anything or anyone can come in unnoticed (particularly when you have a 4 week old baby in the house...). Don't blame the fox, blame irresponsible parenting.

That's like saying pitbulls are bad and should be put down. Foxes can make perfectly good pets but bear in mind that a pet and a wild animal are two different things.

A wild fox came in and saw an infant as an easy meal. It was scavenging for food and found a lucky break. Don't blame the wild fox for doing what wild foxes do. Are you going to blame whales for imposing on beaches because they swim in the ocean? Didn't think so.

The press just have a boner for moaning about foxes in Britain the past couple of years, it's not like it's a common thing. Makes me laugh when you see people calling for a fox cull. We get more kids killed by pet dogs each year but I don't hear anyone calling for a dog cull...

I watched one of those reality TV shows where they do plastic surgery on people and this one chick had most of her face eaten off by a ferret when she was a baby.

I hate both pitbulls AND whales so I just can't find it in me to agree with anything you've said.
