I mostly listen to Korean songs, and watch a lot of Korean movies, dramas and variety shows. All of the songs on my ipod were downloaded for free, because it's expensive for me to buy a Korean album in Canada. For my favourite artists, I usually wait until I'm back home to purchase their music since it's cheaper. Also, as I'm not a native Korean speaker, I have to watch all the shows with English subtitles, and it irks me to no end when broadcasting companies pull the subtitled videos off of Youtube for violating copyrights.
Should pirating media be a criminal offense?

Personally I see no real problem with pirating music.
If I had bought 1 Metallica album (St. Anger was the latest at the time) I'd have hated the band and not listened to any more of their music.
Because I downloaded their discography, and started at the beginning, I'd fallen in love with them before I got to the crap album and was willing to tolerate it. To date I've seen them 6/7 times at £40+ a piece ($400+ total)
So Piracy... They could have had $20 for a CD or $400 for live shows...
Also, what about CDs which aren't available any more? Small bands who put out very limited amounts of CDs, or even bigger bands who put out limited edition albums. That's the joy of piracy. You can get anything you want.

I don't think it should be
Because everyone does it from movies to music to tv shows, i dont think it necessarily right but it shouldnt be a criminal offense
