Increase of Clutter in Shops

So I've been gone from both Neo and Neocodex for quite a while now. Maybe about 8 months or so, had to deal with real life for a while. Apologies for not making a re-introduction thread, but I sort of assumed that nobody remembered me anyway.

Anyway, down to the point of the thread: Maybe it's just me, but I've noticed in the past week or two that I've been back that most general shops seem to have a greatly increased amount of clutter in them than last time I was around. By clutter, I mean non-profitable items that sit in there for long periods of time not getting purchased that fill up empty spots in shops. I had actually tried going back to legit RSing, but noticed that it was so much harder than it used to be. Even if I found a good shop that wasn't totally full at 24 items, they typically were still crowded at 18-23 items. This meant that for each restock, I would have to somehow home in on the few items that popped up that might yield profit among the sea of useless bullshit totally filling my screen. Completely impossible.

This brings me to two questions:

A) Is it just me? Have shops gotten more packed out in the last year or so? Or am I imagining things and have I just forgotten how bad the Neo economy has actually gotten since the early days?

B) If a restock happens when a shop is full, or nearly full, do old items get booted out of the shop to make room for new items, or does just nothing pop up? I ask this, because if I'm right about clutter increasing, it seems the list of shop that are good to AB at, and the list of shops that aren't have changed due to the amount of garbage items sitting there all the time. I used to heavily rely on Spooky Foods for profit, but it's very rare that I see less than 20 junk items sitting there.

Thanks to anyone who might be able to answer my questions or give their own input on this.

People need to learn to take a risk and buy out (aka clearing) the crap from shops with one shell, then have their AB'er going with their other account that you want profit on. ;)

Yeah, I used to do this last time I was around. Just seems so much harder nowadays, because there's often very few items that have a low quantity stocked, and there's little reward in only clearing 1-2 items out of the shop. You'd think they'd increase the maximum number of items that can be in a shop, or have things automatically get removed after a while of not being purchased.

It's just frustrating, because it's nice to see content get steadily released, but it's putting a little bit of a stranglehold on the economy that way.

Yeah it would be nice if TNT decided to put an automated clear function in so that after a certain amount of time sitting idle in the shop, that item is removed and replaced. But they won't :S

It's not cheap to clear out shops.. you'll probably have to spend a few 100k over the course of some hours. And then someone else gets all the profitable items. But you're usually still better off clearing or nothing will restock at all.

I usually restock when USA is asleep so there is even less chance someone else will do the clearing for me. But the shops seem emptier for me in the afternoon Neopian/Pacific time.

to be honest: while watching very slow shops (a bunch of those only having one or two r99 items that are worth it and loads of garbage) I recognized that those items actually disappear pretty frequently and that there are quite frequent restocks - however as pretty much everything in that shop is garbage, it's usually replaced by garbage, so you may not even notice that change *cough*

tl;dr: I think they do have such a system, the time it takes them to disappear is just rather long

Abrosia never sleeps! Neither does Scot.

I've had moderate success clearing out more low traffic shop like Plushie Palace. I've started to realize the best method is to just manually shop hop in Abrosia for shops with at least a few open slots.

I guess just gotta hope TNT maybe tries to improve shop emptying. Fat chance.

Have you tried setting your profit to 1 and buying in a shop? I think that can help clear out some less profitable items.
