That's what I keep getting. I've tried using multiple emails (different hosts) and my username is available so I'm not sure what this constant deal is

edit: not only this but after this the name becomes unavailable even though it is owned by no one. as if it's stuck in limbo.

It's a glitch that has been happening for a while now and is something to do with purged usernames.

Yep, it's a glitch. Try again in 48 hours, or try a different username. That usually fixes the problem.

I looked around and it seems this has happened for a long time. I was attempting to make gamecube - then reason - which were available at the time, then an error, and they weren't available any longer.

I got this error too. A real shame that they can't get all the kinks out with purging. I have two accounts soon to be purged, and they're in a sort of limbo.

I also got this error before, I wish they'd fix this glitch problem that they have : (
