Isn't the Art Chat a little too slow? And 200% of the topics are just "pls vote for me in the BC" anyway.

 

Every once in a while a good topic will come up that's good for chatting, especially if there happens to be tutorials or pointers involved. Even if it is only a couple times a week. Or less. I really don't know why TNT didn't simply make the 'Art' board a separate topic from the BC anyway. 

 

 

There's drama (you said rare, but even so) in the Art Chat? I've only started lurking there recently, but haven't seen much.

When drama breaks out, what are the users usually bitching about? (Is art theft still common on Neopets?)

 

Every once in a while there'll be some self-righteous prick bitching about how they believe they should have won and gains the 'holier than thou' attitude.  Those boards have the tendency of being short-lived though and really only happen on the day of the new BC round.

I've seen a couple of really good artists act like good sports about not placing first, surprisingly. It was sort of depressing to really have it hammered in that BC is more about advertising than quality.

I've never seen drama on the Art Chat tbh, though I'm usually online at off-peak times.

And art theft is a lot less common than it once was (due to the fact that TNT is freezehappy and the BC is more about advertising nowadays).

 

And yeah, I've always hoped that a Draw&chat board would be a success. It's just... too inactive for one though. The art community on neo is negligible.

I feel that it's, as you say, negligible mostly because there's just not much justification for artists to be on Neopets.

 

They will not gain much in the way of prizes by entering BC because it no longer gives out item / NP prizes, only trophies, and it's basically advertise to win anyway. They can enter the AG and that's pretty much it. They may develop their pets and work on pages, but with the decreased community size, it's like sinking tons of time into something that only appeals to a very small audience / doing something that pleases yourself which, to be frank, you can do just as easily on other petsites.

 

There's also the issue of commissions being disallowed. Damn it, TNT.

If I were a hacker/bug abuser and had extreme beef with some people, I'd take several of my lutari morphing potions, and send a potion to each person I had, morph, then abandon that one morphed pet each of them loves. Then I'd use a score sender to SS a score of 301 on Fashion Fever on each account and wait for the drama from two boards pop up. Self-freezing their accounts is too much of a mercy action. But that's just malicious me.

There's no real motivation for drawing on Neo anymore, yeah. Closest thing to being "rewarded" for that is pet applications - which, by the way, actually has its own active chat boards.

Hah, browsing through app chat sometimes makes me feel humbled they would put so much work into MAYBE getting a pet.

 

Back to the main topic: I've been popping down to avatar chat recently and, my goodness, it seems to be filled with semi-newb accounts being obnoxious. I know where I'll be avoiding in the future.

there's not much point to most of them anymore, and you can predict what topics will be on the first page of each forum section anyway. i find it funny that those who are regular posters of one section are always "the best" over those who post in other sections, regardless of what section you go into. then again, i'm easily amused.

I know, right? If it was a sure thing, I'd do it. I made a fancy app one time years ago and the owner ended up keeping the pet. -.- Not to mention many UC adoptions and such are often a farce meant to disguise the transfer of a pet to a shell/side/whatever.

 

When I go to the AC, all I see is "please lend me MSPP" or "please lend me suap" or other "please lend me" boards. The only interesting thing of late is the pilfering ability!

i remember when i first ventured into the main hall premium chat. jesus christ man! if you ever want to meet the board swat team, go there and post outside of their themed threads. i was never so disappointed that i couldn't tell someone to go fuck themselves on neopets.

imo, getting a lend for one of those items is almost as expensive as actually buying the item. so what difference does it make, really?

and yeah, half of these people are really trolls trying to incite the legit players and cause more drama it's hilarious. 

 

in my glory days on the HC, when the funnymen came to town, all the other players would just go "REPORTED!!" "NO SPAMMING!!!!" "honey, let me tell you, you're an idiot" and the board would get flooded with replies.

 

doesn't happen any more since TNT now silence people for everything.

Seems like compared to a few years ago things have slowed down a lot.

I spend pretty much all my time lurking on the PC, and I used to be an avid PC/TCer myself.

 

However, I got sick of all the fake people who would kiss up to the more popular ones. The PC/AC/TC cliques are just too annoying. TC is one of the less pretentious ones, I suppose, but that doesn't make it any better. xD

 

Arghhhh I hate the app chat. You're pretty much ignored unless you're popular lol. although I do admire the work that some people have put into their pets.

I don't see how anyone can stand chatting on the Neoboards. It is so messy and ugly, with all the distracting graphics and weird fonts and signatures that are easily confused with the main text of the post. Not to mention the ultra-tight regulations on what you can say and the generally low level of intelligence of the posters there.

I actually use the boards very rarely, but when a plot /ac or something interesting happens, I might be checking the boards.
