What happened to the big sparky craze? I know people were just buying them all up to sell them at double/triple the value but why not keep doing it? I'm sure if we did it 2 or three more times they'd be off the market and nearly unbuyable. :) I have 500 in my SDB. Was waiting for this to happen again so I could sell them 5 each at 90k.

So basically, why hoard them and then sell only a few days later? They were only released for a day. Can't be more than 20k of them out there. Meaning if you bought 500 of them, like me, 1/40 Sparkys would belong to you. :o

I know hoarding as a group is against the rules but just say you're collecting them? Idk

The demand isn't there to maintain the price, even if you bought 10k of them you'd probably struggle to sell half a dozen a year at a price which would make them profitable so you're never going to get close to breaking even let alone making a profit. They would only be a decent investment if you were getting them at like lower than 1k...

    Oh that's not necessarily true.

I bought up about 200 or so of the Ring or Sloth Stamp when they were worth 50k or so each. I know stamps are better than petpets but...

Stamps automatically have higher demand because they're more collectable and they go out of the economy when they're used. It's not even comparable to a petpet...

Only one person was. It was a completely artificial price and nowhere near the actual market price for the item.

It does work. Less of them on the market = higher price... it's given...

It was released for a single day a week or two ago, because the original dog that the spardle was based on had died.

It probably will inflate a bit but it's probably going to take several years. :/

That's why we should work together and each by 100 or so. Bumping up the price to 10k alone will make me 2.5m richer considering all of mine have been obtained for 5k or less.

Imagine making them UBs, selling them for 99,999 each will make me 50m, after a 2.5m investment. Even if that does take years, TOTALLY worth it.

Group inflation on hundreds/thousands of the same non-consumable item almost never works. It mostly ends up with someone unloading their stock onto someone else who's stupid inexperienced and possibly misinformed enough to buy more in hopes a later inflation that never happens.

The only thing that would change is that there would be more people with Sparkys which they won't be able to sell. Even if you got the price to unbuyable there probably wouldn't be anybody willing to buy them apart from the people you convince to join you in your venture.

Petpets don't disappear when you use them, so the # of Sparkies overall isn't going to decrease any. Might inflate after, uh, seven years, possibly, like the Snowbunny did.

Or you just buy thousands of them and discard them all. In the end it's still all a stupid idea.

There's no difference between somebody discarding them and somebody just keeping them in their SDB, either way they're out of the economy.

I agree that Sparkies may inflate, but even after 7 years, I doubt the Sparkies won't inflate like the Snowbunnies. I'd give them at most a 20K increase, but they would be extremely HTS. Snowbunnies were released way before the pique of Neopian popularity in very limited quantities. Considering many accounts being frozen/purged, the quantity of Snowbunnies were were getting lower than their normal quantity. Unless Sparky gets its own avatar, I don't feel comfortable comparing the two.

I like the idea of watching thousands of them just disappearing. It might make for some entertainment. I'm too easily amused.

What you should do is discard all of the ones you have and we'll buy up the rest. Then we'll get true inflation from less being on the market for the limited demand.

    Napiform's idea.

20k of a single petpet actually is a lot. especially when its not a very desirable one... its a hard sell.

as you unload them, more will be in circulation so the people who unload after you will make considerably less profit.

There you go. Unless we do a mass discarding operation for entertainment or something, the sparkies are never going to spike up to a decent profit, for many years at least.
