I had a little bit of a problem with opiates at one point in my life but am happy to say I've been weed-only for about 4 years now and I like it that way! lol
Morphine, Codeine, or Heroin?

I am completely flabbergasted that someone can actually approve of killing another person for carrying a half-kilo of plant matter.

Poppyseed bagels.
What's worse is that it's like, "If you have pot, YOU DIE. If you raped someone... Eh. Everyone deserves a second chance... TO RAPE SOMEONE."
I know, right? She's probably even old enough to vote.

Personally I've smoked weed a fair amount, although I think I'm going to stop just because it's not a necessity and I don't need to rely on it to get through things.
Honestly, if a person does not abuse the drug and only uses it in moderation I think it's ok. I don't think I'll ever try anything besides weed, and I'm not one for hard drugs.
I think people addicted to many types of drugs, especially hard drugs, need to get some sort of professional help. I'm within my first year of college and I've already seen fellow students fall hard to drugs when they had otherwise decent lives.
I think we all could successfully get through life without drugs, obviously, and therefore we should try to stray away from it. However, that is a nearly impossible thing to do now that drugs are so prevalent.

I will be.
Also it's more of if you're the asshole who's selling and distributing this shit, die. Offenders do have a chance if they turn themselves in by choice.

Thank god Syntax doesn't run a country. It'd be full of first-time rapists, and all the one-time weed smokers will turn themselves in to get a plea deal to avoid the death penalty. But on the bright side, there wouldn't be any drug addicts!

... I would probably rule as a dictator. I'm fully for the curtailment of certain civil rights for economic gain/peace/safety.

That'd make (marginally) more sense, if the perpetrators had to be proved to be dealers. Instead, possessing over 500g of weed means you're a dealer, and you have to prove your innocence.
Then you die.

I think both China and Russia are extremes. I wouldn't go that far, but I would agree with some of the things they do. Censorship, for one. Death penalty for another. Human rights don't rank as high as peace and safety in my book.
Edit: I'm getting pretty tired of defending my opinions, so I'm going to withdraw from this conversation. It's been like five days, I'm getting bored of repeating myself.

I'm afraid when you hold a controversial opinion people are naturally going to be interested in hearing you elaborate on it... /shrug

No, only marijuana, as Jesus smoked it Himself.

But the caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland was clearly smoking opium, so if a fictional character does it, we should all be allowed to, right? According to your logic.
That's ridiculous. Listen, I can't tell you what to smoke but however way you want to justify it to whatever deity you believe in is up to you.
