Propane torch with friction igniter. We just lost power, I'm using it to start the fireplace. Thaws pipes, fixes frozen locks, unlocks rusted bolts, softens lead and soldier. Great for fireworks. Good general tool.

We do that with a twenty five cent zippo disposable. Or bic, or something.

Weirdly, neither of us is that petty. Who'da thunk?

I find heaters without a naked flame better for thawing things. Especially since I live in a wooden cabin with PVC plumbing.
Nice effort at an edit, though. Shame you only managed it after I'd posted.

Oh, sorry.
Uh... We don't need one. Cristen has already found all the stud she could ever want.
How was that?

A chainsaw would have a lot of practical use for us... we cut our own firewood. We go out with Cristen's parents to do it currently - they have two saws.
Not as manly as swinging your big axe around though is it?

On the subject of axes, a decent hand axe is so useful. Possibly the most useful multi purpose tool you can have, if well maintained.
So useful for garden work, general DIY etc. because you don't have to keep changing tools.
