Give him the water but don't help him to bed. Or get him to bed but don't give him the water. If you don't like those, I'd do the second, I like amusing things.

He's such a helpless drunk, it's like having a newborn kitten...He is always very good when I'm a total mess though so I feel obliged to be nice. *sigh*
