Ok so I had a suggestion by an anonymous superhero last night an I'd need a Microphone so I could do it...

I was suggested I should try and make Graphics Tutorials, and Iv'e tried before with just using text in the videos and haven't really gotten anywhere with them...

So what is the best and cheapest mic I could get? I don't want to buy 1 of those $5 pieces of crap from the shitty store down town and sound like  a tin man...

Here's a speed signature vid just incase you're interested in what I might be trying to do in the future if I get a mic, though the videos will most likely be real time or have audio overlay if I speed them up if any.

I've never been a fan of stand alone mics;however, a headset (mic included obviously) works great. I'm currently using Turtle Beach PX21's but I also have a Steel Series headset which works great as well. I suppose it's all about preference -- I know you asked solely about mics but why buy only a mic when you can have a headset?!

Because he wants to record sound. A headset is one way of achieving that, but not the only way, and he wants to cover all the options - hence specifying only a microphone.

But it doesn't matter, because he has no money.

Don't you have a couple of mattresses and a washing machine you have to save up for?  Those are a bit more important than a good quality sound recording device.... If you really need it just stick with a $5 one for now, if it works then it works right?

Was only broke because of crap circumstances. Those issues are fixed now.

Well I'd rather not bother with a headset since I have a pair of Razer Elektra's which I do not want to replace since they're amazing. Plus I can't stand Microphones handing out of the side of a pair of headphones... The mics attached to the Headphone Jacks suck almost as much. Unless you find a good enough headset that is Black and Green and has a great mic and its modular or is not a big, clunky thing then let me know..

I'd rather a Standalone though since I have some empty space on my Desk and I'd like to use it for more than just commentary/talking for a few graphic vids... I'd probably use it to record myself playing my piano too.

A mattress, and a dryer, but my mother said she might be getting a new 1 and may give us her old 1. And the reject store gets $199 dryers in every month. Got them to hold us 1 and they're going to let us pay it off in 4 weeks.

I'm currently using Sennheiser momentum headphones but that mean nothing except that I have to use a standalone mic. (ours is a snowball) My favorite headset was a steelseries. If I have a choice I'll never opt for quality headphones alone over a gaming headset again. Sounds all the same to me. :(

just go to Staple/futureshop/bestbuy, make purchase, save receipt and *neatly open the packaging record your video and return it.  you can come up with any number of reasons, but they don't honestly care why. as long as its within 15 days of purchase, with receipt, packaging isnt completely mangled and have whatever card you used to pay. I did customer service and returns at Staples for 2 years.

I tutor a couple of online classes for my school and my laptop mic really wasn't cutting it for me so I resorted to a peripheral and this one is probably one of the few good investments I've made all year: http://www.newegg.co...=9SIA3A31109103

Like what WillDearborn said, a condenser should be good, and its only $30.

Also since you're making tutorials, you should have a look into adding transcripts into your videos. They really help with the learning process  :D

I have a 3 Euro clip-on microphone from Amazon and it works perfectly fine. No need to spend more if you don't know whether you'll make use of it frequently.
