Rotten Omelette's are worth about 900-1600 neopoints, I only found this out after using a money tree grabber and it said the value was about 1600 which surprised me and it was. What's even more confusing is people buying them considering all they can make your pet sick and they're expensive compared to other foods. I ended up selling it for 1300 which sold really fast.

Can someone please explain how this happens?

I think it's because of the new Coincidence daily.

This new daily called The Coincidence
    http://www.neopets.c...ortal/ship.html

Asks for junk items, which has caused them to inflate.

That's a prime example of how supply and demand works, with the stark increase of junk items being needed for the Coincidence we're finally seeing the economy slowly start to move in the direction it desperately needs.

Yep! As others have said, it is a direct result of the new Coincidence daily. I'm bitter towards that thing 'cause nothing cool ever happens to me, haha. But I digress, it's finally getting rid of all the junk in the economy--thank god. There's also a lot of people hoarding items they think will eventually be asked for as well, so that when it does come up, they can knock 'em all out in their shops.

If someone ever hoarded those for years, would have been pretty hilarious.

Had to fetch Semolina today and thought "Oh, this shouldn't be too expensive". nopenopenope

I wonder how many hundreds of Semolina my pets have eaten over the years.

I don't do this daily if it asks for stagnant puddles, yellow growths, landfish, semolina, dried apricots, or dried prunes.

So, about half the time I don't do this daily. ;)

The funny thing is that the daily doesn't even give good stuff most of the time. I haven't gotten a single positive result from it. They need to fix and bring back the avatar RE already.

The daily used to be much more giving with prizes (and even gave out avatars of any kind) but once people started bitching on the forums, they quickly disabled half of the ray's outcomes.

The nerf hammer was too strong, it's just neutral events all the time now.

I had the impression that they were shifting the pool of items it asked for, at least in the beginning. Have they changed that and just made a permanent junk pool? Super, super bad choice when it comes to inflation.
