It's an ok fantasy anime, and enjoyed the on the nose D&D references and GS' one track mindedness, but I wouldn't call it great.
Yeah, Goblin Slayer doesn’t do anything groundbreaking. The story, the characters, and the themes are nothing extraordinary looking from a distance, but I think what made it appealing was the execution of its basic story. There was something that made us want to look forward watching it and for fucks sake, we knew he was going to slay goblins. The anime just made the process entertaining beyond the bad CGI and overused tropes.
