I decided to submit a ticket and try to get my old 9 year account back. It's not frozen and I've never cheated on it, but I don't remember any information about it. I think I know the email and password used, no idea what birthday I put. The only thing that I think would help me get my account back is attaching a scan of my state I.D. On my neopets user lookup it has my first and last name on it, and back when I made the neopets account I selected my state, all of which are on my I.D. It seems a little unorthodox, but I thought it'd be worth a shot.

What do you think, will I get my account back? I'm pretty doubtful.

Chances they will respond to your ticket: 1/10

Chances you'll get your account back: 1/100

When was the last time you logged into the account? If it was a few years ago then it's probably purged. Have you checked to see that it still actually exists?

It was a few years ago, but I checked and the account is still there

Scanning your ID probably isn't the best idea.  You can't email yourself the password by typing in your username?

I'd censor out any of the important things and just leave my name and state.

Trust me, I've tried. I don't even have access to that email anymore. I've tried to reset the password for that email but it says that password recovery wasn't set up on it. (This is an AOL email, it was made back when AOL was big). I also don't know the birthday I selected.

You can probably submit a ticket and take a chance with your ID and mention the email you used for the account and that it's out of date.  Provide any information you can relating to the account you're trying to get back and hope for the best.

it depends on how much you know about the account, you might get a "not enough information" response

It is unlikely that you'll get it back. After a year or so, they tend to not return accounts back because I believe they purge all the relevant account data. The ID is likely your best bet.

Have you already submitted the ticket?

The wait might be long but I've heard some crazy stories about people getting their accounts back. One friend had to wait 8 months for all the reply/reponse back-and-forth that they wanted. (She's a legit player as well.)

One friend of mine tried for nearly a year, always sending the same ticket. Eventually they got tired and returned his account.

Very unlikely.. I had the same problem, not cheating and everything, but I had access to my birthday and I was the one who created the account. They froze me for 'scamming' because I used to be illegit. They answered one year later telling me that it wouldnt be unfrozen

I got my account back that I hadn't logged onto for three years and it didn't take long (about a week to return, I had several emails in between to provide them with what they asked for. It took a day for them to respond to the original ticket). However, I have many screen shots of my account and was able to provide an ample amount of information.

I'd say it's always worth it to try. Knowing the old password and e-mail address, even if you don't have access to it, helps.

    "Thanks for writing!

Your account has been inactive for two years or more and is scheduled to be purged from our database. This purge is currently on-going. When the username has been deleted, you will be able to re-create the account... but any trophies, avatars, items, or pets you may have had will be gone.

I'm afraid we cannot modify the state of this account because it is already in the purge queue and will be deleted regardless of access.  As stated in the Terms of Use, any account that has been inactive for 18 months or longer is eligible for removal from our database.

We apologize for any inconvenience, but we hope you create a new account to see what has changed on Neopets since you last logged in!"

    Oh well.

Thing that puzzles me is this account is 9 years old, and hasn't been logged into for years. Why wasn't it purged sooner?

It's an excuse, not a reason. That is why.

Anything inactive for 18 months or more is qualified for purging, but doesn't necessarily mean they WILL purge it immediately.

Most likely they have annual tasks for the DB guys to do a purge. And they probably keep the restrictions pretty loose. So, 18 months but has less than 500 NP...etc. If you had any amount of NP, trained pets, trophies, etc, it probably sets back the qualification for purging. So maybe only this year are they purging accounts that are THIS many days inactive AND has at least blah but is not at least blah blah blah, and you just happen to luck out in this round. Congrats!

Disclaimer: I'm talking out of my ass, though.

    That's a pretty stupid policy.

If someone requests to have their account back and it's not purged, why can't they?

It's very possible that the purge is ongoing at this moment - it is a DB query being executed a little at a time. Support isn't going to stop that for a 9 year inactive account. :p

I've never really understood why they can't remove an account from the purge queue, I can't think of a single technical reason why it wouldn't be possible other than the fact that perhaps they just don't want to do it.

    Exactly.

I have neopets that were stolen from me, including a UC faerie pteri and they are on frozen accounts, and I was told ''we could give them back to you, but since the accounts are on queue to be purged we can't'' (and the reason my pets were stolen? Their database was hacked/the password system was, and I don't give a fuck what they said about never been hacked, they lie. There was no way it was my fault, I had not been on my account for years so...)

basically they be like ''fuck you''

TNT has the worst customer service I have ever seen in my life.

    How does that even work.

I think in TNTs eyes, they have the ability to remove purged accounts from the queue, but they just don't want to take the time to do it. Seems like pure laziness.
TNT used to be good back in Neopets early years.

I wonder if their customer service might improve under the new ownership

I'm trying to get a 3 year old account back, they hadn't responded to my ticket for two weeks so I put in a new one :c
