Do you have a distinguishing scar or birthmark? If so where and from what(if a scar).Im with my family now and we are talking about this so i thought Id make a topic about it.

I have a couple of both, I was born with a bluish birthmark right on my left butt cheek and as a child every time id go to the doctor i was asked if my parents were hurting me lol. It actually caused quite a bit of problems in my younger years and even had some cps agents come talk to me when i was in kindergarten. its shrank in size (or maybe stayed the same size while the rest of my body grew??) since then and is barely visible now. I also have a scar under my right eye where i had surgery after getting robbed and mugged for my brand new ps3 when they first came out. i was pretty messed up and probably would have just given them the damn thing if they asked for it. I also have a scar on my forehead from getting hit with a small brick when i was younger. It was suppose to be a rock fight but someone got a little crazy and chucked a brick at me.

I have an unusual birthmark: the mirror image of Africa across my abdomen. It even includes Madagascar.

I have a darker birthmark on my right thigh and a mirror image reverse birthmark (it's white) on my pelvic region.

I have a scar in my left eye from chicken pox. It's faded and barely noticeable now, however. When I was very little, I tripped and fell slicing my bottom lip open on my front tooth. I broke my tooth off (baby tooth) and I still have a white scar running vertically over my bottom lip.

I don't know if this counts as a birthmark, but I have a flat mole the size of a pencil eraser on top of my left foot. I'd always color it and make it into a lady bug as a kid.

    I have:

    - a freckle on my collarbone that is perfectly star-shaped

    - a birthmark on my thigh that just looks like a shapeless small bruise

    - a tiny scar above my eyebrow where I smashed into a glass coffee table as a toddler because I was over excited about watching Garfield I believe.

I did have a scar from my BCG for years but that appears to have disappeared and I don't know when.

I've got a scar on my forehead which I suspect is from chicken pox (but possibly from an angry pigeon which I've wiped the memory of), a white birthmark on the inside of my thigh, a shit load of scars on my knees from playing football in locations made largely of concrete and broken glass (a bit silly in hindsight) and an inch-long scar on my finger from a particularly vicious hamster.

Hmm, I just checked and mine is gone too, I thought that was meant to be permanent...

I have a gross jagged scar on my chin (the underside) from falling off the monkey bars in Kindergarten and splitting my chin open on the ice. I was too scared to get stitches so they used that glue stuff instead and it healed all weird and ugly.

I have a birthmark on my scalp apparently, that I have never seen because I have always had hair. It's on the back of my head and reddish colored according to my Mother.

I also have two weird bruise like birthmarks, one on my side just under my ribs that gets bigger when I am pregnant (skin stretching obviously) and then smaller again, it makes me laugh. The other is on my upper thigh and is so tiny people think it's dirt sometimes.

It's bizarre because mine was quite prominent for several years, I don't really know how/when it's suddenly gone. I can't see it or feel it now. :/ I made such a fuss about the test thing on your wrist, I had to be the first person in the entire school to have the BCG so nobody had any opportunity to get me worked up with horror stories about it. :D

Also, what sort of mutant hamster did you have that you could get an inch scar from?!

How many people are you showing your upper thighs to? :p

Usually in the summer months! It's low enough that it's visible when I wear shorts. lol
But I only show my upper upper thighs to my husband, and that's probably a fate worse than death..

Injection against tuberculosis, all the Brits get them at school when they're...15ish? It scars most people for a fair while.

Actually, I just found mine after looking in the light, it's just a really tiny white dot now and I can't feel it. It used to be really noticeable so I think I might miss it. :(

I suspect it was because I had smaller fingers at the time so the scar looks bigger now as the skin stretched. :p

I have many scars in many locations but this lot of scars on my hand would be the most prominent. They were from me being an idiot in school whilst I was supposed to be working on an electronics project in my free period. Me and a bunch of mates were in the lab making circuit boards to use for the project when one of my mates thought it would be fun to try buffing an oxy brazing rod (metal rod used for welding I believe) on the rotary buffing machine.

The first attempt (by him) was a success and me being the fool I am, decided I would give it a shot too. Well... this is where the shit hit the fan. I grabbed the metal rod, began to hold it against the buffer (this sounds too sexual, it's so not, trust me) and then it got caught. When this happened, it ripped the rod out of my hand and proceeded to slice my hand up whilst spinning the rod around at about 10 rotations a second... needless to say, my hand came out a little worse for wear (by the time I realised that it was being hurt, it was too late to pull my hand away, the fucker had sliced my hand up approximately 8 times, hence the scars I have now).

    Spoiler

It required 40 stitches and I almost sliced through a main artery (and could have lost my hand as well). So yeah, I was an idiot that's for sure. Kids, don't buff your rod on an industrial buffing machine. Life lesson learned.

The other major scar I have (which I won't be showing) is where I broke my leg (and the bone pierced the skin) playing Ice Hockey years ago in mini league. Long story short, I had the puck, got slammed into the wall and the rather large kid that hit me put his pull weight onto my leg, snapping it good and proper. The bone was protruding out of my shin, yes, it hurt, no I don't wish that pain upon anyone.

Who's CAUSED a scar on someone...?

Because I once caused a similar injury to @Strategist's ice hockey one, by breaking a girl's shin in a game of field hockey and 10 years on she still has a pretty sizeable scar to show for it...:/

I have one on my left eye. When I was 4, I was jumping on the sofa when I landed wrongly and my eye hit the table.  The doctor did a terrible job so I'll probably have the scar for the rest of my life.

Well, at least I always forget about it (specially which eye is it).

I caused a scar on my sister's lip by throwing a dog at her (playfully, not violently), does that count? Technically the dog caused the scar...

I'm a reallly boring person so I don't have much, and the little things I do have aren't really noticeable >w< I have a scar on my forearm from when my old cat jumped off the christmas tree and scratched me (this was like... when I was 4? 5?), and then I have a beauty spot next to my left eye but my glasses cover it up :x

I have a scar on the outside of my right eye. me and my sister were playing on a truck when we were younger and she opened the tailgate and the corner hit my eye and busted it open, it was mm from hitting my actual eyeball. i have a dent in my eyesocket and now one of my eyes is a tinsy bit smaller (width wise) because of it.

edit: also because of this, my eyelashes grow all wonky in the corner and i have to pluck them or they will stab me in the eye

I just googled it and the NHS don't vaccinate everyone any more because TB is so rare, so now you don't have it unless you're considered high risk.

(another reason for us to feel old there @Waser Lave, kids these days don't even have to suffer the BCG)

Being a badger I'm grateful for my BCG. ;) We get a bad rep when it comes to TB.

It's becoming more of an issue. When I worked at a hospital, we had to be tested for it every year. There are specific rooms people (negative pressure) are put in if they have TB.

Some of your stories sound excruciating.
