So if you guys don't read my blog I have a friend who's currently dating a guy in prison. I can't remember his name so I'll just called him prisonbae and I watched this show in ID called prison wives so it got me thinking about how it seems super common for random women to fall in love with men who are in prison, but when women are in prison barely anyone comes to see them and they're basically shunned by their family and friends.

Would you date someone in prison? If your significant other went to prison would you stay with them?

I think the concept of standing by your SO is really great but if my man went to prison our relationship would be over. I don't think I would be able to maintain that kind of relationship.

I couldn't maintain a healthy relationship with a criminal. There's just no way.

I can maintain a healthy relationship with a criminal but once he gets caught we're done.

Depending on what it was for, I'd probably stay with a SO who went to prison. Wouldn't specifically seek out someone who was in jail to date though, that's called hybristophilia.

    I'm the same.

If it was more maybe some white collar crime or something I could see myself staying, depending on how long he's away for.

For me it depends on why she is in prison. And what length of time are we talking here?

I'm not for it, but my sister's (now ex thank god) boyfriend stabbed a guy and almost got attempted murder, and she stayed with him anyways.

I don't think so... It's hard enough to maintain a relationship outside a prison :p

These hard questions. I dated a homeless guy with an arrest warrant before, but we broke up when he got arrested cause it was just too much hassle and work to maintain the relationship once he was in jail.

No.  I don't care what the crime is.

For the sake of convenience I wouldn't date anybody who is locked up. Even if I loved the person they'd have to understand that there would be a separation until or if they get released. An ex convict or a current criminal I would probably date considering that there is a good chance they are innocent and I'd have the discernment necessary to understand if they are worth being with. In the US it's impossible to count the amount of innocent people taken by the law system. Possession of cannabis for example is a victim-less "crime", and not actually a crime at all on that note. More a revolutionary medicine and source of societal efficiency, but a threat to large greedy companies.

Seriously Nap :D was he too unbearable ?

As for me, nah :) won't it be hard for him/her to even have a job when he has a record that his been in jail ? So yeah, answer is no. Too much too handle and probably he'll do it again. But as for the innocent and went to jail for false charges, I'll probably have second thoughts :p ;)

I think it would be tough to not cheat on your SO while they were in prison, if it was a lengthy amount of time. Maybe I am just a slutty dude though

My name is not synonmous with Dawn, so no. :p

I could not date someone in prison. That's just a huge no no to me. I understand that our prison system sucks, but I just can't. I value my safety and I don't want to put myself in that situation. Plus, I know I deserve better.

I typically stop dating the ones in prison.  Best they can do is narc on me.  If they're dumb enough to get caught I don't want to keep buying off them.

Wouldn't date someone in prison unless they were setting me up. Holly Golightly right here.

If my waifu went to prison I'd stay with her no matter what. I couldn't abandon someone while their life was in the shitter if I loved them. I'd do everything I could to keep her spirits up and such.
If I was me in prison I know I'd feel a hell of a lot better knowing that there's someone on the outside that cares and is waiting for me (albeit also guilty for putting them in that situation, but shit happens.)

Also, I'd send her snail mail all the time with adorable stationary, stickers, and drawings.

I feel like it probably shouldn't be called cheating in that situation since you wouldn't even have the option to physically be with them. If they didn't understand they'd probably not be worth dating!  :lol2: I'd be like, "Honey it looks like I'm going to have to borrow your best friend until this is all over!"

If my significant other went to prison, I would probably still date her. It also depends on how long the prison stay was. If she murdered someone and was in for 40, I wouldn't.

However, if we are talking Orange is the new black status here, where it's only 1 year, I could probably manage it.

The fact that they got caught and couldn't get out of it would be a huge turn off. If someone who was otherwise good enough for me went to jail tho I'd wait it out, the kind of people I can tolerate aren't replaceable.
