I excuse my failures with a fancy word called "procrastination" and dream up endless accomplishments but don't want to do the work that goes with it. I'm finally beginning to see it as a problem rather than just one of those relatable things you laugh at on tumblr. They (whoever they are) say that the first step to solving a problem is realizing that there is one, hence this board. I feel that with my habits right now, I'm on a fast track to middle aged obesity and earning an appearance on either "My Strange Addiction" or "Hoarders". Or worse, I would just end up a lonely homebody living a short life of regret and disappointment.

A problem I have, like many others do is self doubt. I feel that since a lot of people are after the same thing you are and there are people a million times better than you, you should just forget it. Because believing that "you can accomplish anything you put your heart into" is a very naive way of thinking. Or all that other "believe in yourself", "you can do anything" bullshit our elementary teachers and successful people who got there by luck and rich parents spout. So instead I adopted the philosophy that the sun will blow up one day anyways, and we'd all be dead long before that so why the fuck not try having triple orgasms in a single masturbation session? I mean, no one's going to stop me, I have enough time before they return home and I shouldn't miss this chance so why the hell not?

The rambling above is not important, so to go to the point:

What kind of promises, resolutions, and ideas have you had that you keep telling yourself you'll do and end up giving up on or forgetting? What are a list of things you want to do, accomplish, or become that you know you should probably do now before you get old or get die under mysterious circumstances?

Here are a short sample of mine (only the ones I'm not too embarrassed to say and I think are safe to disclose to the internet). Funny thing is, most of them are simple. But I guess I'm just a lazy, wishy-washy fuck. (*I realize this became more of a bucket list)

- Improve drawing skills

- Continue learning Japanese

- Practice social skills

- Take improv class

- Read at least a book a week

- Take pole dancing classes

- Learn how to dance

- Have a healthier lifestyle (lol)

- Climb at least 6 out of the 7 summits

- Bang one celebrity even if that celebrity is Steve Buscemi

- Publish a graphic novel

- Become one of those funny people I admire
- Buy my siblings and parent a house before I leave for my own

My ultimate goal however is to find a way/career that pays me to travel and avoid math as much as possible. I also have another major one in mind that I'm too embarrassed to say (and I'm sorry to disappoint you but no, it does not involve a porno)

I read somewhere this morning that "dull women have immaculate homes" and this made me feel a little better but no, sorry. My house is a fucking disorganized mess, probably a direct reflection of my feelings/stagnating mind and I just can't get ahead of it... When I bust my ass all day in an effort to? I don't get a 'well done, that looks great" I get a guy who walks through the house trying to find everything I didnt have time for and I get to hear all about it. I'd just rather spend time with our daughters than struggle to reach someone's impossible standards. Great mom, but bad host/homemaker=useless because we can't compete with the inlaws.

I feel you. Whenever someone says anything about my messy home, I show them an article about the relation between messy areas and creativity and show them my happy kids.

    Fuck 'em

I do near enough everything I plan to. The joys of being young, childless, in a flexible career I enjoy with a supportive husband.

Ugh I know exactly what you mean there. I have to finish school and because it's an online course I have the flexibility to not do it, so I procrastinate. But the thing is I cannot complete any of my other goals including travel without it. I really have no reason to push it to the side constantly, I have this terrible laziness that's followed me all throughout education.

Also exercise, I know it'll make me feel better physically and mentally. I still don't do it anyway because I'm the queen of lazy.

The computer/Neopets is my way of running away from the above two  :whistling:

    - Getting up before 10 am. Been saying it for years. Not gonna happen. I even got "lucky" and had a baby that sleeps past that time. And when she does wake up my hubby often takes her out.

    - Work out. Got two fancy training machines just eating dust.. I have no excuse there.

    - Not using my phone constantly. Yeah right. I get anxious if I do not check new messages instantly.

    - Stop drinking soda. BUT I AM SO THIRSTY AND WATER JUST DOES NOT HELP. Or so I keep telling myself.

    - Make dinner. Yeah I am not really sure how I have managed to avoid it for so long *27 year old*, fortunately I have a partner who loves to cook.

    - Studying. I am not happy with my current work and I would like to study a completely different line of work. I just never get to it because I am afraid of how things will go financially.

When I say I'm going to study, I find 500 other unimportant things to do. I say I'm going to wake up early, I wake up and decide that sleeping is a much better option.

Actually finish my online course and submit my Uni application. As soon as I'm on the computer I find a million other things to do! Plus my daughter usually comes in and she *must* watch Numtums on YouTube. She's 3 and it's apparently so important!

Tidy my house. I don't even know why I keep saying I'm going to do this. I'm abviously far too busy completing my course. *cough*

Not tidying the house isn't that important, but I'm paying for the online course so I should really get on with it.
