Okapi Tertiary Gene

The okapi gene is available in the treasure marketplace. This gene displays bright striped spots of color on your dragon's neck, horns, and legs using its tertiary color! These genes will be stocking in increased quantities during the week of its release.

Maybe I'm visually retarded, but what am I looking at? Can someone draw circles or something and show me what the gene is doing?

Not bad. Not great, but not bad.
Probably not the best examples... but that's true with any gene/colour pattern.

I'll definitely be using it on some future Coatl/Nocturne projects. Maybe even a Skydancer or two.

But... have about 6-7 queued up already and it's not so amazing that I have to change what I already have planned or previously done (thankfully).

Wonder if this was "meant" to be paired with Bar & Daub or if this'll have other complimentary primary  & secondary genes down the line....

Last thing I want to do is spend a lot on gems on something like shimmer for my crystal dragons only to have it announced something like facet is coming out. -_-

@Jess  See in the OP the top right derg?  That would be something like orange/royal/maize  where the maize is the new gene.  So the whitish tiger stripes are it.

I was wondering the same thing at first, until I saw the scroll or whatever in the top picture and realized its like the feet/a few other places.

It's different. I'd like to see it on an adult before I make my judgement I guess. I really like that black/white noc though in the OP.

I actually really like this gene.  It's the first tertiary gene I've liked in a while. :)

It's apparently what you get when a zebra mates with a black bear.

Yeah me too. I've yet to see a dragon that I like with it.

Now that I've seen it closer up on some of my own dragons... I don't really like it... it's like a tertiary version of Tiger -_- ew.
