Lead Designer Ion Hazzikostas recently mentioned in an interview about Blizzard's decision to remove flying from future expansions. What are your thoughts on this? Are you in the pro-flying group? What about the anti-flying group?

 

I personally agree with both sides, I find flying to add a new dimension to the world, giving way to exploration and seeing new views. But I've also enjoyed Draenor without flight and the challenges that have followed. Draenor feels huge! In short, I'm going to continue to enjoy/play the game regardless of whether they implement flying or not.

From what I've read, it's not that they are 100% banning flying forever, but choosing to continue the same choices as Draenor and not allow flying for current content. However, there's nothing to say they couldn't opening up flying in Draenor when a new expansion comes out. We'll see. I do hope it goes that way, and we see flying in Draenor someday. No flying in new content was refreshing and did amount to more exploring at the beginning, but later in the expansion no one wants to travel all day by mount and now are (myself included) doing old content that's fast and fun. I have limited playtime, so no Blizz I don't want to waste my time trekking it to wherever I need to be or spending wayy too much time taking flight paths.

It would be pretty cool if they decided to implement flying in Draenor once the next expansion drops. Exploring the Spires of Arak via the sky would be epic! Although I don't see them doing that, they wouldn't want to take traffic away from their new content. The General Discussion WoW forums are pretty heated about it all.

I don't see why they didn't just gate flying in Draenor like they did in Pandaria. I know there was a lot of post-levelling goodies to collect that were reliant on not being able to fly to make them more fun, but that just precludes activating flying at level cap.

Gating it definitely would have been a smarter option, at lest for this expansion. I can't even imagine how much extra time was put into making Draenor flight-ready from all angles. Seems like a waste.

I think flying shouldn't be allowed in some of the places, I know I was a little upset they made flying in Orgrimmar and it kind of just stopped people from looking around and exploring it.
