With 2015 aging like the curdled milk in my refrigerator, I figured it was a good opportunity to not only reflect on my own year - but to better learn about everyone else at the same time.

So without further rambling, I present you all with a few questions about 2015 and a couple about the upcoming (and hopefully GLORIOUS) 2016.

1. How/where did you ring in 2015?
2. What are you most proud of accomplishing this year?  (Go on, be proud and brag on yourself!)
3. If you could change one decision from last year, what would it be?  (And what would it potentially change?)

4. What song summarizes your year?
5. How/where will you ring in 2016?

6. If you participate in New Year's Resolutions - what will yours be?  (If not, then tell us an overarching goal for yourself in 2016.)

    1. How/where did you ring in 2015?

Either at home or with family in Texas. I can't remember
    2. What are you most proud of accomplishing this year?  (Go on, be proud and brag on yourself!)

I got all A's and B+'s in my first semester of college.
    3. If you could change one decision from last year, what would it be?  (And what would it potentially change?)

    Dating my last boyfriend.

    4. What song summarizes your year?

Hm...Headstrong by Ashely Tisdale possibly. Possibly I can go the distance from Hercules as well.
    5. How/where will you ring in 2016?

In Texas, I think. I can't remember when we leave. If not texas then at home.

    6. If you participate in New Year's Resolutions - what will yours be?  (If not, then tell us an overarching goal for yourself in 2016.)

    Oh boy!  A questionare!

    1. How/where did you ring in 2015? I didn't even bother to celebrate.  I was in my house's computer room.
    2. What are you most proud of accomplishing this year?  (Go on, be proud and brag on yourself!) Going to school and doing something with my life. :p
    3. If you could change one decision from last year, what would it be?  (And what would it potentially change?) I probably should have gone to my 10th High School Reunion, despite me having bad times at the school.

    4. What song summarizes your year? Don't Stop Me Now - Queen
    5. How/where will you ring in 2016? Maybe spend some time with my family this time at home.

    6. If you participate in New Year's Resolutions - what will yours be?  (If not, then tell us an overarching goal for yourself in 2016.) Lose weight. (Seriously)

    1. How/where did you ring in 2015?

I don't remember to be honest. Probably my house, alone :p (Like most years... lol)

    2. What are you most proud of accomplishing this year?  (Go on, be proud and brag on yourself!)

I made a huge step towards accomplishing my dream. I made it into my college's school of music!!! Now on my way to becoming a high school band director and I'm really much happier now that I made that decision.

    3. If you could change one decision from last year, what would it be?  (And what would it potentially change?)

Not telling my parents that I'm sexually attracted to guys. My dad might hate me less (doubtful, he hated me already) and I would be able to hang out with more of my friends... :/

    4. What song summarizes your year?

    Probably this song.

It was a really big decision for me to follow what I love when my family discouraged it (my dad ended up going along with it eventually, but only because he thought I couldn't do it). When the person I care about the most (my high school band teacher) said that he believed in me, I knew that I had to at least try. It ended up paying off :)

    5. How/where will you ring in 2016?

Hmmm.... I haven't thought about this much. Maybe one of my sister's friends will come over and we can watch a couple scary movies together. My "friends" are probably all busy like usual :p (Woohoo!)

Edit: Plans are now to get drunk with a friend over skype (he moved away) and play video games! Wooo!

    6. If you participate in New Year's Resolutions - what will yours be?  (If not, then tell us an overarching goal for yourself in 2016.)

I usually don't, but since I'm "an adult" now I figured what the hell, why not give it a shot. My goals are: Stop swearing, get into a relationship or lose my virginity, get a job, and to listen to a different composer every 2 weeks and write down my top 3 (or 5, not sure yet) favorite songs by them.

Congratulations on an awesome first semester!  You killed it.  I lost my scholarship my first semester.   :S
As for dating your last boyfriend - I can relate.  Obviously not with YOUR boyfriend... but my ex from a few years back was the mistake of a lifetime.  *gag*  I learned more from one crappy relationship than several good ones, though.  Kinda makes me wonder if the head/heartache was worth it.
And lastly, "I Can Go the Distance" = HELL YEAH.  Good pick!

    Oh boy!  A questionare!

Going to school and doing something with my life. :p

I probably should have gone to my 10th High School Reunion, despite me having bad times at the school.

Don't Stop Me Now - Queen

Kudos for pursuing your higher education!  What are you studying?  :)  I just started my Masters this year... but here at the ripe age of 28, I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.
Also, I went to my reunion this year.  If you get a chance to go to the next one (maybe 15 if your school is like mine?) - I definitely suggest it!  I was bullied and picked on a lot in high school - and for the longest time, I thought I would go back and gloat on my successes and "give them a taste of their own." But it was nothing like that.  It was just nice to catch up some people I haven't spoken to in 10 years, and see that we all act like adults now.  One guy was still a bully, but it was because he peaked in high school, and the reunion was another chance to relive his glory days.
And "Don't Stop Me Now" was my song of the year for 2014!  SO GOOD - it makes me want to dance naked.  Weird.

I made a huge step towards accomplishing my dream. I made it into my college's school of music!!! Now on my way to becoming a high school band director and I'm really much happier now that I made that decision.

Awesome goal of becoming a HS band director!  Actually, now that I'm thinking of my HS reunion, one of my friends from band back in the day was there directing at my old school.  It fit him, and it made me so happy to see that he reached his dream and was influencing the lives of young musicians like my band director did for us so long ago!  Never stop pursuing that. :)  He was number five of my friends to become a director, and hopefully I'll be bragging on you when you becoming my 6th friend.

I am sorry that your family, particularly your dad, didn't react well to you coming out.   :(   I wish that it wasn't something you regret, and that it could have been more cathartic for you.  I know it doesn't mean much coming from a stranger in a forum, but you deserve to be honest with your family and friends - and your own happiness and acceptance of yourself doesn't depend on their opinions.  (You've probably heard this 1,000 times, so I'm sorry if it's a repeat.)  At any rate, if you ever need to just chat or vent about it - my inbox is always open.

Finally, "stop swearing" is a great goal.  I had to stop for a month because of a class I was in, and I formed some better speaking habits.  I don't think I'll ever completely stop, but my goal is to "swear less"   *tehee*  I also adore your idea of listening to a new composer - that sounds superb!

    1. How/where did you ring in 2015?

House party in north London. Horrendously drunk. Woke up and was forced by boys to make a cooked breakfast, like I'm Wendy and the Lost Boys. Same as most years.

    2. What are you most proud of accomplishing this year?  (Go on, be proud and brag on yourself!)

Significant progress on some freelance work that should get finished in 2016.

    3. If you could change one decision from last year, what would it be?  (And what would it potentially change?)

I should have insisted that the Boy move back from France.

    4. What song summarises your year?

    5. How/where will you ring in 2016?

I am supposed to be in Paris. I will likely be at a house party in north London.

    6. If you participate in New Year's Resolutions - what will yours be?  (If not, then tell us an overarching goal for yourself in 2016.)

Purely to have a better year than 2015. Which wouldn't be hard.

Finally someone gets me haha :) Thank you for the offer, I really do appreciate it. It's nice to know I have someone to talk to, especially when a lot of my friends kind of suck at listening to other people's issues or even pretending to care about them lol. And to be honest, that will probably end up how it turns out for me. I think I'll definitely be able to swear only on occasion, but there's always going to be those moments where it's too tempting to scream out "fuck!" haha

I do not have any regret. I don't understand -at least not yet- how people always regret about something. I mean, it's all dead and gone, I'd rather live the present.

I don't like New Year's Resolutions, people ends up doing nothing, why would I start doing/stop doing something now? The earth never stopped spinning around the sun :p
But I do have a goal and the will to accomplish it. I want to buy new music gear and start a few bands.

    6.

Purely to have a better year than 2015. Which wouldn't be hard.

I can completely relate on #1!  It's why I've mostly stopped partying with boys, and moved on to hanging my lady-frans... because at least they can be bothered to help me cook eggs and bacon.  I once allowed myself to be talked into driving across town to pick up thai takeout for a houseful of hungover guys - and I asked while I was out that they at least pick up their bottles.  I got home a half hour later - zero improvement.  And my bathroom smelled musky for a week.  NASTY.
Also, I don't mean to pry - but are 3 and 5 related?  :(   That sounds rotten - and I'm sorry your Paris plans fell-through.  Not that it means much coming from me - but it's my dream next year to ring in the New Year in London.   (AKA - You're where I want to be, but I'm settling for Amsterdam this year.)
And I do hope your 2016 is beyond awesome.

    3. If you could change one decision from last year, what would it be?  (And what would it potentially change?)

But I do have a goal and the will to accomplish it. I want to buy new music gear and start a few bands.

I wish I could learn to live in the moment like you.  :D  All the silly self-help books I've read emphasize living in the moment to reduce stress.  It sounds to me like you have it all figured out!  You're right - there is truly no point in worrying about the past... it's like a bad habit.  And as for your New Years plan - spending time with your family sounds nice.  If I had a choice, I'd pick my family over partying my face off any day.  (I miss them!)
As for a resolution - I like the ambition of starting a few new bands.  You say it like it's no big deal - but that's pretty dang lofty.  Much success to you!

    2. What are you most proud of accomplishing this year?  (Go on, be proud and brag on yourself!)

    Resolutions are for squares.

Holy crap... major kudos for surviving brain surgery and for your improving health!  That is definitely brag worthy.
And I'm terribly sorry to hear about your falling out with your mom.  I can't even begin to imagine how that must make you feel - and it sucks that you had to endure something like that.  I don't have any nice platitudes to offer you, not that they'd mean much anyhow, but I think you're very strong for being able to open up about your feelings.  (I personally like to keep mine bottled up... I hear bottling things up is very healthy.)
I do hope your 2016 is far better than 2015.  It seems like 2015 was just mediocre at best for most people... So I'll toast to your improving health, and a better kickoff to the New Year.  Even if you think I'm square for my resolutions.

Start teaching! I was a bit hesitant when I looked for a job, I thought I would regret it. Best experience ever

Glad to hear you're enjoying teaching!  I was hesitant when I started instructing in my career field, but it's definitely been a rewarding experience.  And it sounds to me like you're going to have a great kickoff to 2016!  The beach?  Family? Friends?  Sign me up... Hopefully you stir up some good-vibes early on, and they carry on throughout the year.
If you plan on traveling next year, where do you plan on going?     Someplace warm and sandy?   Or maybe someplace rugged and beautiful?   Traveling is a hoot - and I hope we'll hear about your adventures.

Rocket, I feel like a total turd for not seeing your thread.   :(

    http://www.neocodex....rs-resolutions/

I was totally not trying to step on your toes.  And had I seen it I wouldn't have basically posted a dupe.  Thanks for beating me to the punch by several days.

Congrats on your amazing weight loss, by the way.      The weight that you lost, I apparently found.  (It's the law of physics... or mass... or something scientific that I ignored in college and spent the time writing "Mrs. Whateverhisnamewas" on my notebook.
Did you do anything specific, like a particular regimine? Or maybe those pre-portioned tupperwares my friends are trying to get me to use.

At any rate, I admire your steadfast devotion of improving your health, being cancer free (YES) - and also to your next-year goal of getting laid more than twice.   My grand total since August of 2014 = 0.

    1. How/where did you ring in 2015?

In a park in Edinburgh, watching some magnificent fireworks over the castle, incredibly high. Slept from ~7am-12pm, then watched the entire LOTR trilogy.

    2. What are you most proud of accomplishing this year?  (Go on, be proud and brag on yourself!)

I got a highly competitive government internship and converted it into a part-time (potentially soon to be full-time) job. Also, got straight As in fall semester.

    3. If you could change one decision from last year, what would it be?  (And what would it potentially change?)

Hard to say, I made a lot of very difficult and very consequential decisions this year, the ultimate outcomes of which remain unknown.

    4. What song summarizes your year?

    GFOTY - Bobby

    5. How/where will you ring in 2016?

    Chicago! Doing something fun, hopefully!

    6. If you participate in New Year's Resolutions - what will yours be?  (If not, then tell us an overarching goal for yourself in 2016.)

    In order of feasibility:

    1. Be more actively anti-racist
    2. Exercise more
    3. Stop being a homewrecker
    4. Be less judgmental

Aww, I wouldn't have them any other way. <3 They're there for me when I need them. I'm there when they need food.

Kinda. Husband has been working in Paris for the past 18 months, I was doing half and half between Paris and London for a while but it's too hard for me to do my work over there and I'm miserable when I'm not working. Christmas and New Year plans just ended up being a mess and so we're spending the whole time apart for the first time since I was 17.

NY in London is pretty lame, I wouldn't suggest aspiring to it. :p

I don't, it's just another day, another year. No matter what you do, there is no real significant change in to what you've done the year before. We all tend to repeat what we are comfortable with.
