Who here plays or has played Yugioh and when did you start and/or quit?

I started back in 2002 and stopped around 2004/2005. I started playing again October 2014, but haven't really done much since then until a month or 2 ago. Now, I'm prepping myself to play in store tournaments again. It's been so long, but I played in my first sanctioned Konami tournament Saturday and lost. There are so many new cards and deck styles out there that I was unaware of. But I am prepared now.

I just sort of collected the cards. I did build a blackwing deck, but I don't use it.  I do have a couple of the old gameboy games though. I'm not going to play the actual card game because the rules just got so weird and confusing. I liked it in the beginning when it was trap, magic, defense and attack points. Now there's XYZ, synchro, fusion...I basically have no idea what the heck is going on in the rules anymore. I still have binders full of really rare cards some guy on ebay sold me for $13 in a giant tin. Yes, I checked the values.

Oh okay, cool. I wish I had all my old cards, my brother convinced me to sell everything when we quit. There are things called Pendulum summons now which are very nice. I'm about to learn how to use them, it doesn't seem as hard as I thought it would be at first. That was a nice deal for $13. I'm trying to find deals like that, I need to find an awesome deal on the "god cards" at some point. They will be nice to just have and collect.

I loved that game as well!! I wish I still had it and my Gameboy, lol.

I still have my small collection hidden away. I've already had offers on it when it was on ebay of around 550 but that was when we had 2010 floods and I had to cancel the entire listing =\ Just never got back to re-listing.

I built this amazing Volcanic deck that acted as a raigeki but on opponents' turns. It'd recycle, had amazing draw power, it was beautiful.

Then they made Majispecters and Infernoids and I quit. Fuck this game.

I'm not sure what those decks are like, but that Volcanic deck sounds awesome!

The new Monarch structure is very nice. I'm picking up 3 tomorrow and I'm going to try to put something together. It runs very nicely from what I've seen.

I LOVED YuGiOh when I was younger

I have thousands of cards sitting around collecting dust right now. Back in the day, I made a really fun Ojama deck, which actually worked pretty well at the time due to Ojama Delta Hurricane and the new Ojama cards that supported the deck. I also made an old school stall control and burn deck, which was very frustrating for my opponents :p

I played from around 2007-2012, then when XYZs came out I stopped following. Now I'm completely lost with the pendulum monsters :p

Nice, I've seen those at Tournaments, and they ran very well at the time. I used to run a Burn deck back in the day too. I had so many decks, it was funny, lol.

My decks were the following- I wish I still had even 3 of these decks :(

    Warrior

    Spellcaster

    Burn

    Lvl

Horus Beatdown (which I am running atm) (ofc I had to rebuy all the cards)

    Lava Golem

    Yata Lock/Spirit Reaper

    Toon

Beginning/End (before Chaos Emperor Dragon was banned)

I'm 32 and a 10 year old taught me Pendulums and they are beastly. I have a Deskbot deck in the making, and those are OP. You should watch a yt vid on Pendulum summon, they are really nice.

My favorite era of Yu-Gi-Oh is probably the pre-Synchro monster era, when Konami wasn't needlessly making the game more complex than it had to. I think the pre-GX era is also really fun for it's simplicity and sheer amount of normal monsters. It just isn't the same anymore :(

I completely agree with you. I wish it was still that way.

It was awesome! It could disrupt many combos and if you got one card you'd be able to draw twice for three turns.

Anyways Majispecters cannot be targeted/destroyed by any card effects, and Infernoids get 1000000x effects just from being in the grave.

I think I may try to find an Infernoids deck, sounds like fun. Not sure what they consist of though. :/
