Hey everyone. Joined in january (I think) but never introduced myself. I'm a big lurker and read on here a lot, but never really post, so thought it was about time that I started doing that. Nothing to do with AC or anything ... :p

So five facts about myself...

1. I've played neo since almost the beginning but I was an idiot and self-froze my accounts in high school, so I can't access the sweet sweet aged account anymore :(

2. I'm a real weirdo (that's sad... I'm on fact 2 and I can't think of much else haha)

3. Aspiring stand up comedian. My parents still don't think I'm funny... one day they will

4. big time nerd in my 'real life'. I'm talking friday and saturday nights in the university libraries kind of nerd.

5. I'm extra bendy. I have a rare disorder called ehlers-danlos syndrome, and it means that my joints are loose and I'm extra flexible. It can cause lots of dislocations which I have had but never identified them as dislocations because I didn't know that's what they were. My main problem is chronic wrist pain so that's always fun. oh and because i'm extra bendy, i'll often sit in ways that are super weird but not realise it.

woah serious! that's crazy! what type do you have? I'm not sure what type I have yet. I've been told I definitely have it but doc wants to investigate to know what type for sure

I've only just gotten an answer for everything and it's soooooo good to know, but also makes me doubt a lot of stuff. like I was sitting with my mum when she visited last week and I kept asking her if I was sitting like a normal person or like a bendy weirdo . basically i'm doubting everything I do now haha

I have hypermobility type with some vascular cross-over. I was diagnosed in November last year, but we suspected for a couple years when a jaw specialist saw my seriously hypermobile jaw. I also have POTS and Chiari malformation, which are frequently co-morbid with EDS.

It is so validating when you finally get those answers. I was in pain for so long without them. And the fucking run around from doctors is ridiculous. I saw a geneticist are John Hopkins for my dx.

SO validating. I had a physio half diagnose me as a kid because of how hypermobile I was, but we didn't look into it further because he just said it was something to watch out for. Didn't suggest that I give up ballet or anything so I hate to think of the damage I was doing with all of that! I used to do my homework sitting in oversplits ah my poor hips!!!! It explains so much for me but yea, the best bit is knowing that there is actually something wrong with me and I'm not CRAZY!. My old physio for my wrist was starting to doubt me when I said I had pain, since I was going weekly for over a year. VINDICATION!

doctors are seriously the worst though. I honestly think that, had I had the experiences with doctors that I have had the last few years, I'd have gone into medicine just because none of them know what they're talking about blah

Yep. I can relate 100%. I can't tell you the number of times docs told me my pain wasn't real, I was just stressed, I was a woman, etc etc and tons of other offensive ableist/sexist comments. xD

You don't still do ballet anymore right? :(

In any case, I hope you get your type information as soon as possible. VEDs is no fucking joke. :/ Hope you don't have vascular type. And yeah, I have a pretty jaded view of doctors too. But hey, if you ever need to talk about this stuff, PM me any time. :) I don't bite I promise.

YOU KNOW MY PAIN! I haven't met anyone else with hypermobile joints! I like to say that I "sit like a freak" but it's the way I'm most comfortable!

And I can't have kids because of it. Boo hiss, but oh welll.

Welcome to NeoCodex! You shall love it here because I COMMAND you!
