Contest Revival 2.0!

I've created a list below of contests that need continuing.

Guidelines:

1. Let me know if you're interested even if the previous winner was pinged. That way it can be passed onto you quickly if they decide they don't want it.

2. Don't forget that many of these contests have awards. Check the Awards page.

3. Look back at previous contests to see how they were hosted and/or check the guide for running a contest. Let me know if you need help finding the previous one.

4. They don't need to be done all at once. However, please try to post it within the next four weeks. If not, I'll be giving it to someone else.

Contests needing revival:

Customization Contest: Next would be #54.

Claimed by: @Cannabis

Themed Writing Contest: Next would be #19.

Claimed by: @Sudeonm

Gif of the Week: Next would be #7. Up for grabs.

Claimed by:

Photoshop Battle: Next would be #14.

Claimed by: @Swar

Random Contest: Next would be #13. Up for grabs.

Claimed by:

Draw That Scribble: Next would be #7. Up for grabs.

Claimed by:

CAS Contest: Next would be #10.

Claimed by: @Amarillo

Caption Contest: Next would be #41.

Thank you Em for getting this up! If no one has revived the writing contest, I'll host it after the caption contest. I'm going to only host two (the other one we discussed + caption contest) for now.

Okay, i've been thinking about this. It would seem that our regular contests have lost their novelty, and all contests seem to last an eternity (not fun). So, my suggestion, is to run a monthly calander of contests. Each contest only appears once in a month. Awards are given as follows: completion award (standard), participation in every contest for any given month, paritcipation of a single contest 5x and 10x (each contest with it's own award), award for donating prizes to contest 4x in one month, award for donating prizes to contests 10x and 100x times altogether.

Other thoughts- perhaps have a specific leader/admin in charge of running the months worth of contest (maybe rotational?)

I enjoy the contests, it's a fun way to interact.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure this is a great idea to be honest. We already have a small handful of people that do consistently and actively host contests. Most people are, frankly speaking, unreliable. Even participation is spotty. This is a lot of work for one single person to deal with in a whole month and it would likely once again, come down to the small handful of people who are consistent and reliable about hosting, and that would just suck for those people. I've repeatedly run contests no one entered or had winners flat out refuse to host the next contest because they only liked participating. It can be kind of exhausting after awhile to do a lot of work, get little recognition or appreciation, have no one enter and then occasionally see people complaining about activity/contests (when they themselves refuse to assist or participate in any way).

That being said, maybe hosting contests only once a month could help bring back the novelty for the old ones, but instead of having one person host a month's worth, what is essentially a gaming month every month, we just have winners host their contest the next month or give it up to someone who can/will because life does happen and people do get busy.

If we wanna bring back some novelty, people should make new contests. Most of our contests are old and that's fine. Folks can get really creative with the themes and they can be a lot of fun! But at this point we just need folks to really try to be creative and put in more effort, especially if they feel strongly about how active we are, or our contests in general.

I hear what you're saying. I was thinking 4ish rotational contests (our  regulars) per month (so only 1 a week), to accomplish what you said, having contests appear just once a month,  for the same reasons you mentioned. I do like the idea of bringing back some of the novelty to our regular contest.
