No idea yet. One of the purposes of the class is to decide on a project and prepare to do it next semester.

Oh I see. Do you have any thoughts about what you wanna do?

Nah, the senior designer just sort of passed it off like it was nothing. Still made me feel bad though.

I'm glad you didn't get in trouble. I'm sorry you feel bad about it though.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear you're struggling with depression. I also struggle with it. You mentioned your health problems - my health issues are pretty much the direct cause of my depression too. I haven't found an answer for me yet, but for now meds are helping me. I hope you can get some help and feel better soon.

I didn't find any homes I liked this weekend, but I did see a listing for a home I'm interested in. It's not the typical kind of home I would have looked at, but it's intriguing ...

It was built in 1858, and used to be the Village Schoolhouse (back when they were all in one room!) It's got that kinda rustic charm that grabbed me, though the listing says "TLC Needed" which can mean anything from needing cosmetics (paint, carpet, new molding, etc) to the roof is about to fall in. I'm waiting for our agent to get some info and call us back, but I'm kinda excited because it's the first house I've seen in awhile that I really liked. Here's hoping this all goes well. :)

Yeah, I have major depressive disorder due to physiological illness(es). It sucks, right? I'm sorry you deal with health troubles too. :( It sucks not knowing. I went undiagnosed for 22 years. When I finally got answers, it was such a relief, and I felt so validated. I really hope you can experience that too.

Did your agent call you back? It sounds like a really neat house and if you can afford the TLC, then you should definitely go for it (provided it's not anything ridiculous like the roof/electrical/plumbing).

This is relatable all around - been in a huge funk and all I've been able to do lately is curl up in bed and watch The Office. I switched meds this week and wow what a bad idea. I wish we didn't live so far apart because we'd totally bond irl.

We definitely would lol. How are you feeling this week? I know you're still dealing with medication issues. :(

I think I do. My group members and I have to discuss and decide on an idea by next Wednesday though. We also need to write up a big business case and project proposal by the same day too as we present it to our instructors. :/

Thank you.

When it comes to illness, sometimes getting an accurate diagnosis is the hardest part. I'm so sorry it took so long for you. I went undiagnosed for 2 years and it felt like an eternity. I literally can't even imagine 22 years. I had some awful things said to me during that time, from basically being told it was all in my head/I was faking it, to having an emergency room doctor pretend to take me off for testing but actually he pulled me into a side room and lectured me that there were "better ways to get attention from my husband". Suddenly that pales compared to what you must have faced. Through all the struggles with medical "professionals", you must have an amazing strength of will to keep going. Never forget that!

It turns out I have two health problems - one was diagnosed and treated, though it come back so I have to get tested a few times a year now. The other was diagnosed incorrectly, and I'm going to a different doctor now who is actually trying to find an accurate diagnosis for me. Health struggles get easier when you have a doctor you trust -  I hope you have found someone like that.

We did go to see the house - when we pulled in the driveway, I told my husband "we're buying this house!" Then we went inside ... I knew it was a historical home, but I assumed some updating was done to make it livable. Nope! The house was heated by two propane space heaters (living room & dining room) and there was no heat at all upstairs. There was some electric on the main floor, but no electric upstairs. SMH how someone actually lived there. I don't mind a bit of updating, but renovating a home on that scale is beyond my patience and my budget. A bit sad, because it did have a lot of potential, but it wasn't the right house. So I'll keep looking, the right house is still out there somewhere. *fingers crossed*

Wow that sounds like a lot. And kind of stressful because it's group-work. Good luck next week. :)

Ah yes, being made to feel like you're mentally ill for having a challenging medical condition, I am very familiar. That was a majority of my diagnostic process. I still have a lot of anxiety seeing doctors but my health issues are very complex so I have to suck it up and keep going back so I don't die lmao. Also, I wouldn't agree that my experience was inherently worse than yours. You were invalidated, gaslit, etc too from the sounds of it and that sucks so much. Our experiences are just a bit different in terms of length. I'm really glad you finally have a physician who believes you and is trying to find answers. Thankfully, I do have that now. My healthcare team now is incredible now, especially my cardiologist and primary care doctor, they really go to bat for me. I'm very fortunate to have the doctors I do on my team now.

Damn yeah. Electrical is super important and super expensive to put into a house. It sounds like that house just wasn't meant to be. I'm sure you're a bit bummed though having to keep looking.

Hey Coops, I'm so sorry that you and so many others have faced such challenges just getting a diagnosis. I wish that medical professionals would be kinder to people who struggle to get an accurate diagnosis. I can't imagine when they tell a patient it's all in their head, that they actually get a patient who replies "Yep, you got me - I was just pranking you. Well now that you've caught me I'll just be going." and strolls away, healthy. They have to know people are sick, and they are not helping them by telling them the illness in "in their head".

My health problems started with responses like "but all your tests are fine" phase, then moved onto "it's all in your head" until they found my spinal tumor. It was an awful thing to find, but I am grateful that at least it was fixable, although the surgery has given me a lot of mobility challenges I struggle with.
I also have lung/breathing problems that are still undiagnosed - or rather, I now have a decent doc who is trying to remove all the half-assed guesswork 'diagnosis' and trying to find a real diagnosis. I'm just praying that whatever it is, it's treatable.

Part of my issue is that in this local area the doctors are good, but not great - and good isn't enough to help me. Things didn't really start turning around for me until I found a specialist who reviewed everything, did his own tests then was flat out honest and told me he had no way to help me and I would need to travel to go to a specialty center for care. I was terrified my insurance company wouldn't pay, but we eventually got that worked through. Now my specialist is 2 hours away, and it's tough to get to see her, but for the first time she's given me hope that there are answers out there - and that makes it all worth it.
I'm so glad you have a good care team too! I wish my primary care doc was a bit more with the program, but it's too much trouble to go looking for another and for now she's going to remain "good enough".

Yes, the home we looked at had a great location and the outside was beautiful - but considering all the work the inside needed, that just wasn't the right house for us. It feels like I've been looking so long, and I'm really tired and ready to get a new home and just move already LOL. We'll keep looking though, there's a right house out there for us and we'll keep looking until we find it. :)

Some things are better and some worse lol but I'm at least feeling less anxious now. I unfortunately passed out and hit my head last week and I've been faint since then. How about you? Has your pain been any better?

@Coops

I was thinking of you today and wanted to share some good news ...

So after nearly half a year of looking, we found the right house. It's not 100% perfect but it's close enough for us. We've worked through home inspection, legal estate paperwork (it's an estate, which is even more paperwork!)) and mortgage and finally the bank is ready with our mortgage - now all we need to do is get all 3 lawyers together in the same place for half a day, right before Christmas. *sighs*

But it's getting done, and hopefully we will be in our new home by New Years.

I see you haven't been by in awhile, I hope things are going OK at your end.

Aww, thank you for thinking of me. That's really sweet of you. I am indeed still alive. I've been dealing with two consecutive injuries (hip and then knee lmao) and my depression, so I've been a dick about coming around Codex. Things seem to be looking up though! I am back on my meds on a good dose. It's still a process but I'm doing a lot better than I was.

I'm glad to hear you guys found a house! How did the legal stuff go? Does it look like you'll be moving in by New Years? I bet you feel so relieved to have picked a house and whatnot.

@Coops *nods* I figured you might be fighting away the blues.
But now that your back ...

*tackle hugs* MISSED YOU!

I'm so sorry to hear about your hip and knee issues.
I also have knee issues, and I know that mobility limitations can be so frustrating.
I'm happy to hear you are feeling better.

We FINALLY closed on the house yesterday (Dec-27). *happy dance*
We went through so many delays, it's just unbelievable - it felt like literally everything that could happen did, including the estate executor dying (!!!).
But it's a great house and it's worth the wait.

Right now our home is a tri-level, which is a LOT of stairs - it was fine 10+ years ago when I was physically feeling better, but between lung issues and knee issues the stairs have become a huge problem for me.
I literally can't wait to be in a one-floor ranch. At the new house, it's 4 steps from the kitchen into the garage, so that's not bad. The stairway downstairs to the basement is a bit steep, but I think it's going to be OK as I'll only ever be going down there to do laundry.
The movers come to pack the house on Jan-3 and we move in on Jan-4 -- I'm so excited for this! I will be happy to get moved in, even though it means I'll be unpacking boxes for probably weeks to come LOL

Wishing you a happy new year, full of many blessings. :)

Yes, frustrating indeed. I started physical therapy yesterday for my knee and the therapist put her fingers under my kneecap and made me contract my quadricep and then I ended up almost jumping off the table and yelling fuck bc it hurt so bad lol. So that was interesting. I have to go twice a week for four weeks. And by the time I finish, I'll be having ankle stabilization surgery on my right ankle, so I'll probably end up right back into pt. I'm real salty about that. I'm hoping my husband can help me keep up with my leg/hip exercises so shit doesn't get weak anymore. My hip injury probably caused my knee injury because I had to stop exercising and lost basically all my muscle tone in two months, which made my knees unstable (I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome so instability is a chronic issue for me and leads to dislocations or partial dislocations). It's just been this whole clusterfuck. BUT, my primary has been super patient and supportive. It feels like everything is sorta snowballing for me rn and that's not unusual for people with connective tissue disorders. I'm just hoping we can put an end to the snowballing before I end up in a wheelchair lol.

Anyways! Congratulations! That's so exciting. It sounds like the whole process was a wild ride. You must be relieved it's over finally.

Jesus a tri level would kill me lmao. I'm struggle with the three stairs into my house. It sounds like your new home will accommodate your health though and improve your quality of life, so that's good! Just go slow with the unpacking and take your time.

And thanks! Happy New year to you too. :)

Aw @Coops I'm sorry to hear you are struggling with so many mobility issues. Good luck with the upcoming ankle stabilization surgery! I'd never heard of that before, but I read up on it and it sounds like it has a good chance to help your ongoing joint issues.

Oh, thank you so much! I am glad we finally own the house, but with moving looming ahead of us it seems like there's still a lot to go before I really feel settled there.
Yes, this house was great 12 years ago when I was charging up the stairs without touching a railing. I didn't even notice the stairs back then. Then time marched on, and I got ill, and now the stairs are literally unbearable.
Moving into a single story home will be such a welcome change. I am both excited and overwhelmed about the move - mostly because now that I'm doing some of the packing and I realize how much stuff we have, I dread the unpacking even more! lol

I wish you a new year of blessings, good health and healing!

That's the goal anyways! If it goes well, we'll do my left ankle after.

Yeah, it's totally normal to be stressed but excited. It'll be over before you know it and you'll be settled and happy to be in your new home. I hope that the house improves your overall quality of life! I know how nice it is to go from tons of stairs to none (the apartment I lived in before my house was on the third floor lol).

@ Coops ~ I wish you an uncomplicated surgery and a speedy recovery!

So ... after 3 postponed closings, we finally closed on our house on Dec-27, and moved in on Jan-04.
What a mess things are! Things have started to resemble rooms now - the beds are made, dressers are (mostly) sorted, the computer is on a desk, silverware is in drawers (still haven't found the dishes though, we're eating off tupperware) and there's a pathway through the cardboard boxes, lol
Our cats are really enjoying the house - it turns out the windowsills here are wide enough for them to walk on, so they are enjoying all the views of the new neighborhood. They are oddly freaked out by the gas fireplace though - nothing clears out a room faster then turning the fireplace on! Something about it just makes the cats uncomfortable?
It's still got quite a long way to go before we're really settled in here, though I'm so happy to finally be in our new home.
