I figured I'd put this in chit-chat since it doesn't count the posts! I wanna know what's going on with everyone, especially the older members!!! Everytime I see a different name I get a wave of nostalgia and good (and bad lol) memories.

I guess I'll start! 2020 has been really stressful for obvious reasons, but on a bright note, I've got a girlfriend! A couple of you knew at some point I had a huge crush on this girl I went to school with but we went to different colleges (both med schools tho). We stopped talking after a while but reconnected during quarantine (online) and after lots of talking we're now official! The whole story feels like a rom-com straight out of Netflix lmao.

Also I just finished my 5th year of med school, just one more left! I'm really scared of what's gonna happen after I graduate but I'm looking forward to it!

oh yeah i can finally grow an actual mustache but I'm having trouble uploading a picture cjdkcndn it's 5 am I need to sleep

Here we need 6 years to become a physician, but I wanna be an oncologist so I'll have 5 years of residency!

Well, they say cancer is a growth industry, although people that say puns like that should be shot.   Do you specialize in radiation, chemo or surgical oncology?

I don't know yet, it's still a long time before I have to decide! The only thing I'm 100% sure is that I'm not doing surgery LOL I really hate it

Glad to hear you are doing fine dude. Man, just one more year of med school eh, I remember when you mentioned you had just went in there haha.

This has been quite the topsy turvy year, but I'm doing ok I guess and even managed to change jobs to a better one.

Hi Junjie!!! Nice seeing you again! Time really flies hahaha

That's good to hear! I'm glad you got a better opportunity, especially in times like these.

I know right. It really does fly, it's pretty insane sometimes to think about it.

The decision to change companies was more or less sprung on me though, with my principal (the company my company worked for) wanting to get rid of my company, but also wanting to retain my team. So they worked out an arrangement with a different company and the terms were good enough to jump haha. I'm really still adjusting to the new company in many ways, but given the abysmal times we are living in & how bad it has been for many others, I can't really complain.

Hey guys, I'm glad to see things are going fine for you. I'm good as well, taking online classes until mid-2021 though. It's easy to get approved but I'm worried as I feel I'm not learning what I should (they are teaching the subjects in half the time they should). I'm also forgetting a lot of stuff easily so I'm afraid this will affect me when I start working. Besides that, it's being fine and I'm thankful me and my family are staying strong all this time :)

I only asked because in the U.S. your length of residency changes based upon which one you chose.  Surgery also has a much higher malpractice premium.  God willing, Covid will be under control before you start residency.  It is an exciting time with cancer, all of those cell specific antibodies and the new idea that its the mutation that is more important than just the histology.  I've been reading a shitload during lockdown.
