I'm thinking about getting my g/f a mp3 player for her birthday, but I dont know what to get.  A few brand sugg's would be good...and I have a question about (takes the chance because this isn't REALLY a link...)P2P files and what mp3 players are compatable.  If this does need to be deleted cause of the above mentioned, go ahead.  Don't want to get anyone in trouble.

You mean files of Kazaa and etc? Ya they're compatiable, but I'm not a yankie doodle, so I wouldn't know what brands to suggest. If you're going to be a nice bf go get her a mini-ipod :p

Either get iRiver (with the colour screen, H10 or something) or iPod Mini. All others suck.
All mp3 files will work on the player whereever you ge them from, P2P, legal download or CD.

go with an ipod mini... as for songs if you don't mind spending a bit of money then get a napster to go subscription and download all the songs you want. I do this and I convert the protected files over to mp3 format using a program called TuneBite. If you decide to do this I could send you the serial number... as for tunebite you should be able to google it  -_-

iRiver H320 is what I have... its what Typhoon suggested as "iRiver with color screen" I own the 20 gig model... paid 320$ but it's currently about 280$ in the states. You can look at pictures and stuff, and record, all that jazz.

franly I think your post was utter-crap... you cuold've contributed to the topic in some way at least... anyways the shuffle is like 256MB or 128 MB which is barely any music at all... it would be good if you dont mind setting up a new playlist all the time... but for me I prefer having about 5-10k songs on my ipod... so I can listen to wtf I want to...

I'd rather put my testicles in a blender then waste money on that hunk of crap. I'm a money man and I know where I like my money being spent, out of all the Ipod range, Ipod mini is the ONLY one worth buying.

Well he is giving it away to his GF. And who knows how long she'll last. Know what I mean?
I never would spend that much money on a GF anyways. The most I'd spend is 0. All I pay for is the gas on the way to the dinner. She pays for dinner >_<

Well I definitely would make sure it was a girlfriend of long term. Unless you are extremely rich. Though I don't think an ipod mini is an outrageous gift of a long term relationship. I would say 1 year +

If you've only been going out with her for a few months, settle for a small mp3, say $200 bucks worth. If it is something serious, splash out for the mini-ipod.

Nah he was talking about the H10 which is 5GB.
The iPod mini does suck hard balls because its just a name.
If you want something like that, get a creative MuVo.
Its much betetr with a screen! Apple is trying to jip you with the "oh the new shuffle". Thats bullshit.
