Should I stay on drill team (my schools dance team)or quit? I hate EVERY aspect of drill team. I hate the coaches, the practices, the games, the competitions, the people. The dancing isn't even my style. All my friends are either seniors or aren't trustworthy. People on drill team think its cool to talk behind other peoples backs and I don't find that a good quality in a friend.

If I quit, I would basically be starting over. I would have a few friends, the friends that I don't hang out with now. I would have to re-kindle so many relationships that I lost by joining drill team. I would probably go back to Progressions for a few dance classes a week where I could meet new people.

Just some background info: I have been dancing since I was three. I have been on drill team for all 3 years of my high school career so far. I was a social officer last year and am a military officer this year. If I stayed on I would try out for Military Officer again (which is a given to someone who was it the previous year).

I reallllly need advice.

If you don't like it, you don't need to stay on it. You can still dance outside of the drill team, and you'll make better friends. The rewards seem to be better than the losses :)

Don't do something you dont enjoy...and why would you lose your friends just because you quit the drill team??

They can't be real friends if they don't like you when you're not in a certain team...

Well there are basically going to be only 2 friends I have next year. Both of them I'm close to but LOVE to talk bad about people, including their good friends.

And it just kind of happens. We practice together everyday for 3+ hours and not being there for that makes you seperate.

I wouldn't quit, if I joined I'd deal with it. BUT, if you don't like it, leave then, just one question, why'd you join if you hate it? well, I used to hate XCountry, but after a while it was hella fun, idk if that's the case, but you should give it a chance.

Asking for advice isn't the best idea, it should be you who makes the decision. Not that I am saying there is anything wrong with asking. There are really only 2 choices here.

Schools in this time period have 2 sections in society. People who are considered fags (Not the actual definition) or popular, or pimp (cool) as many call it.

It depends what you think will happen, you can stay on the team, just go with the flow, be popular, etc.

On the other hand, you can quit, hang with people who never hang out with, and be considered a fag to the popular kids.

My friend took the second choice, and he regrets it. So you choose.

 Well , it has its ups and downs..
..You really shouldn't be on a team for friends or ect. The whole point of it is for people to have fun , and do what the do best ; Dance . Granted , you will loose friends but from how you made them out to be , they don't seem pretty nice .. <_<
It's up to you , and what really matters is that in the end you're a hundred persent happy with your previous decision.
Quick question ; Do you have any fun at all on the drill team? You obviously hate every aspect of it (Quoting) , so why do you continue doing it? :(
-However , if you continue on the drill team , you will improve in dancing .... -And keep friends...But how great can they be when the only reson they're you'r friends is because you're on the drill team? :(
I think you should drop out.-That's what I would do ...

I am asking for advice because I want to see how different people view it. Different views always open your eyes to new things.

And being on drill team doesn't make me popular at all, so its not like that would be anything spectacular I was missing.

Don't take this is the wrong way , but why should you even slightly care what 'the popular' kids say? <_<
You shouldn't do something just to be 'popular' . <_<

I would quit, its not worth doing if you completely hate it, and pretty much what NetbusUSER said.

Individuality is always important! Might I say it... to the "popular kids."

I'm actually on a differnt position than everyone elese. I believe you should actually stick with it, in the long run you have a stable and proper habit of discepline, the merit of doing that event (since you've already come so far), and a hard earned satisfation that only comes with sweat, blood, and tears. In retro-spect it's worthwhile, and makes your future less troublesome in my opinion. I regret every stopping martial arts -- and all the discepline I'd gained from it; it's all gone now after being dormant for nearly 4 years....

The things you do in High School will have very little impact on your life after it. Do what you want for fun. The people you know now will abandon you when college/university comes. You will lose contact with everything you now hold sacred. High School is a huge disappointment in life, it really is. Don't waste so much energy worrying about your "social standing" because it means dick when you get out. Nobody will care who you were of what you were a part of. If you can flip a burger, that is a better life skill than Cheerleading or Dancing. What I am trying to say is, don't waste so much of your time worrying if you will be accepted. Someone out there will and that is the most important part to remember. So, I voted yes. You should quit. Not for the sake of "friends" (in quotation because I use that term in High School very loosely) or social events, but for your own sanity. If you don't like doing something extracurricular, don't do it. Waste of time and energy.

in my opinion, first forget about the people, if u really like 2 dance and want to maybe go into a dance profession,I say stay, but if like u said the dances they do isnt ur style...then I guess quit.but make sure that u wont regret that decision later.
and dont listen 2 the people here who say if u quit, people will think ur a fag.seriously people sayin that schools these days have 2 kinds of people, losers and cool people,is so stereotypical from watchin tv and bullshit.I mean the people u know surely will think ur cool even though sum other people dont.I could go into the reality details but I dont wanna rant on.
people wont think less of you if u leave a team but I think people will think more of you when they meet you because they'll b thinkin,o wow she was on the drill team, she must have good dance skills n b impressed.and if u wanna rekindle sum old friendships, dont b scared, usually people havent changed that much and soon talkin to them will seem like back then when u used 2 b friends.jus b openminded to the new changes and dont b shy to go and meet new people or try sumtin new if u quit the team im sure u'll adapt and make alotta new friends :thumbsup:trust me

Your hot, youll get friends easy ;) But if you Hate doing what your doing now. I suggest quitting. Nothing good can come out of it, You cant be satisified until you give up what you hate.
