The exact location, like an address is practically impossible I think, unless you figure out a way to use a satellite dish from the government or something, but you can pinpoint the city that person lives in by the ip address though ..

Yeah, I've already found out what city they're in.

I guess that's as far as I'm getting, then :(

Well, I think only LEO agencies and the Government can do that.
    Most ISPs have a database...

Its got your IP number, and then attached is your account number.
And LEO agencies and the government have access to that stuff...
Ping IP > find city > find isp > probe isp database > find account number > open account details > name and address attatched to account

Somehow I doubt (no offense) that Dolphin is going to track someone down and beat them up or something like that. He might use it as a threat but I doubt anyone will use it to track someone down.

What was the certainty? That's weird though, when I tested it out with 5 ips it got them all right.

Actually, I'm going to track them down, and firebomb their house.. :p

 No... it's more of a curiousity thing.
Our school principal (Interim principal, actually.. meaning he's just there till we find someone to fill the spot permanently) has taken it upon himself to be the school's moral police.. and he reads the xangas and myspaces of pretty much every student in our town who has one (it's not that hard to find them... there are blogrings and such specially for kids here) looking for mentions of drinking, doing drugs, etc. He then notifies their parents. I'm safe, cause I don't do either.. but it's kinda annoying. It's not his place at all to do such a thing.

Anyways, I've had quite a few hits on my xanga lately, all from the same IP, ever since I posted a rant about said principal.. I just want to see if it's him :)

Its done through where your internet connection is generated from. The central office for your ISP is probably in anaheim...

Good luck with that... If you have the IP and ISP, you can call them and request information, but you have to know something, and be reporting something ;)
