About a couple months ago I had to teach my dad how to copy and paste

ROFL!

Remember back in the day when YOU didn't know how to copy and paste ?

I remember when I always used to shout out to my mum "Where is the G on the keyboard mummy" and she'd reply "Next to the H or F".. confusing, eh?

Anyhow, I don't even need to look @ the keyboard anymore.. and I type at 60 words per minute with 3 fingers .

No "Aw damn, the spyware must of downloaded all that porn!" excuses for me.

I was the one who posted that. Haha. My dad still believes spyware can do ANYTHING. He knows enough to get on ebay, check email, and go to paypal. That's it. Otherwise, he's computer retarded.

My mom has her own laptop (which she doesn't deserve, IMO... but she paid for it ). I refuse to troubleshoot her $2000 boat anchor.
Seriously, she's the person who goes "Ooh! This banner says I can get 1000's of smilies! That sounds great!" "....Why is the computer running so slow?"
There is so much spyware, adware, and viruses (I think... not 100% sure on the last group) on that comp, that pretty much the only option is to reformat.
Apparently, Dell has a really strict policy as far as that goes.. reformatting voids the warranty, according to her (Even if she's wrong, I'm not going to argue with her).

Otherwise, it's a wonderful comp.. (2.8 Ghz, 256 MB RAM, huge display, built-in wireless) it's just got too much crap on it.

Dad- Semi-Computer illiterate. Can open Word/Works, internet, and weather bug. He is capable of using the internet to a limited extent and doesnt know a thing about what is really on this hard drive.

My Mom- Completely clueless. She can get as far as her email, a search engine, or Spider Solitare will get her.

Uhhhh, my mom can probably use the computer better than 90% of the members here (she's running Slackware). Never met my Dad, I'm assuming he doesn't know what a computer is. lol

My mum thinks shes good and i let her think she is to keep the peace My dad suks at them to if i asked him what wordpad was he would probly go and get one out ofthe drawer

My mom can browse the internet, maybe do word, but I think that's it.

My dad is good with hardware and stuff, he studied Networking for a while too, but my dad is really stubborn and wont use firefox, wont use linux, etc. Apart from maybe installing drivers, reformatting and all that, I think I'm way more experienced on the computer. Things that take him 3 hours take me 30 minutes. He tried learning VB once, but that was hopeless.

My dad lives in a study with two computers. They are his life. Consequently he's pretty good with them ...He also hisses when natural light falls upon his skin.

That's hilarious.


My dad is good with computers... we just help each other out with problems with them. He's good at the hardware side of things too.
My mum on the other hand? ... well, I've explained adding attachments to emails to her three times now (she's finally got it) and... yes, well, she can do things like word processing but that's about it.
