EDIT: Rewritten to improve clarity.

Do you guys think I can make money by creating costumized Windows XP Install CDs. I would require all costumers to send me their original CD, plus their License Key(Product Registration Code). I am thinking the price I would charge flat out would be $30 + S&H both ways.

I would also charge, say $1 to integrate a program into the install, and $5 to optimize their disc for speed. They would fill out an online form and submit it, lsiting what they wanted done to their CD.

Do you think people would pay for this service or not?

I think the most difficult part would be advertising this kind of thing. Especially if this isn't a popular service people look for (which i have no clue if it is or isnt).

A bit too expensive and the possibility to expand isn't that good. Not many people (outside Codex) would be willing to send you there CD, serial and $30.

I doubt it. How many people would want this service? How many people would send their cds and serials to a stranger? I'm not sure Microsoft would be to keen on it either.
You can always try, but I wouldn't expect making big bucks out of it.

Well it isn't popular because no one has ever tried to sell this type of product. I think if I could get it out there and shit. If someone could get me hosting and setup all the forms, ect. I would gladly pay a decent commision.

Maybe I will just get them to send me their CD, and leave them to input the License Key during install.

Depends on exactly what you would do, and if I had the cash. I probably wouldnt feel safe sending my thing from somebody over the internet to make it better. Not talking about you Cata.

Yes or No. I dont really know what I would do.

    Decorate/Rewrite is the same thing.
Atleast I think that is what Cody is saying.

I think some people would be paranoid about giving out the License Key, that you were going to use it for yourself or whatever.

Yeah, but I wouldn't need it really. They could just enter it manually at setup.

It sounds interesting, but it'd probably be tough to get into. You have no reputation in which to guarantee results as you'd be just starting out.

If your willing to try your damndest at building up sound references go for it :p

Figure out a fully online service you could provide, rather than a slightly physical one.

or... do freelancing with your awesome programming skills.

Sounds like an interesting enough idea...
I'd just be afriad of the legal ramifications.. I don't think MS would be too happy with you rewriting their discs..

Probably if you pack them in a PC or something. Try selling to distributors.

I'd WANT it, but not for $30 + S&H. If you make a business, then maybe make a bit of money, but other than that, nah... Plus I think you'll need permission from Microsoft.
