At last, after renting for more than 2 years, Google is buying ‘The Googleplex’.

The Mountain View headquarters in Silicon Valley will be purchased for 319 million dollar. Google expects the deal to be closed by the end of this month. About 978,000 square feet of property will belong to Google then.

Since 2003, Google is renting the various buildings from about four independent commercial real estate companies.

Its good that they can have a sense of ownership now I suppose, but I thought they were always owning it

Along with a nuclear blast proof bunker built two hundred feet below ground with twelve foot thick steel reinforced concrete walls, three generators with enough fuel to last a year, and all that other mumbo-jumbo nobody cares about till they dont have it.
