Hmm... well I think that Harry has a good possibility of dying, since she says that after all, it is a "fight against evil". Who is the main fighter of evil in Harry Potter? Hmm... :p

However, I don't know why she decided to give off this information in the first place... then people would be wondering like mad :p

O_o Very interesting to say the least. I cant beleive they wouldnt wait for the 7th book.

Ron and hagrid are goin :p

Is Hagrid considered a main character? JK has kinda been writing less about him with each book it seems.

Harry dying is the only way I can see the series concluding on a satisfying note now, especially after HBP. Otherwise we'll just have another of those happy-ending tales, even if people do die. It'll really get to me if I've been reading these steadily darkening, relatively liberal and not standard hero-reading books for ten years and it turns out to be the same as all the rest... or worse, ends in a Deus ex.

Or Ginny dies... I hated her so much as the books moved on, went from a semi-background character to a wannabe main, the way it was done really irked me. Losing Ginny and his friends and mentors, breaking his wand in half and exiling himself to the muggle world is the only way I'll have a satisfying ending where Harry lives.

It's kinda getting boring now though.... I don't think the woman should do anymore. she should stop now because it just gets uninteresting.

I don't want Hermione to die, Harry can drop off a cliff, she can't die! *girl bias*

I do sorta agree with Clair, her books are really long and...argh worthey. The storyline is still pretty good, but she takes so damn long to get around to it!

They haven't done it for Sirius yet. Death is meaningless if you can revive people, which is why Dumbledore's, Cedric's, and Sirius's deaths were all dramatic for the readers and those weird ass fanatics who killed themselves over it. I hope Mrs. Rowling understands that death is forever, instead of a soap opera...

P.S. The way Sirius died was horrible. HE FELL THROUGH A MIRROR?!

As long as she don't kill off Hagrid D: He's cool, yo.
She already killed off poor Dumbledor.

What'd be nice if Hagrid was the one that killed Voldemort.
    It'd be a "Wtf?" moment.

Yeah, read this in the Telegraph this mornin'. And yes, Martin, Hagrid is considered a main character.

I don't think either Ron or Hermione will die. When JKR says "two characters will die" and hints that the deaths will be of main characters, everybody automatically assumes one of them is going to be either Ron or Hermione. Red herring methinks :p

What you guys have missed is that this is the LAST book she is making, so to end the books she has to kill Harry otherwise the story will keep continueing ;)

The idea is that Hogwarts was a seven year school. While, yes, Harry will not be going back to Hogwarts, instead going off to fight Voldemort, that was the original methodology. Also, this tale is just as much Voldemort's as it is Harry's, and if one or both die, the storyline is finished.

The only real reason for Rowling to kill Harry is dramatic effect or to prevent anyone else from tacking on their own works.

I actually didn't think of that one.

ahem.. might I also throw in a quick thought of my own on this subject?

Refer back to book 5 (I was sick as hell and on opiates while I read it so I'm a bit fuzzy on that books memory...) remember when harry was cleaning out the black mansion and they found that locket that no one could open and was massively heavy?

Now refer back to book 6.. when harry goes for the horcrux only to find a note that someone else took it.. remember the initials? R.A.B.--Regulus A. Black if I may say so myself..

now connect the two I just mentioned together.. and this should help you unlock a whole new aspect to unraveling the harry potter plot...

just my 2 cents though... :p

No offense Cody, but HP fans have known that for a LOOOOOOOOOONG time.
