The render is Phoenix (a.k.a Jean Grey) from The X-Men (can't remember where I got it from but it originally looked like this.)

I didn't use any custom brushes. It was all done with filters and gradient tools, and playing with blending and adjustment layers. Took me probably 2 or 3 hours.

I actually don't make sigs, so this is my first attempt. As you can see I haven't got any text on there, I was stuck for a good idea when it comes to text. Text has always been the bane of my existence!

The backround could be a bit more filled, but I don't think it really needs that much work. Add text, and it will make a great sig, nice render, nice blending, nice backround. Very nice for your first attempt :p

Looks good. Been looking for this render too >_>

Anyway. It does look kinda incompleted. Try to either put the render in the middle. Or incorporate the background more into the render. Such as adding an aura from her.

    Thanks for the replies.

I'm a minimalist by nature, hence the 'simplified' background. I've always like a clear cut point of focus - which of course in this image is the render.

My graphical work has always been clean-cut and understated. I did manage to achieve high-distinctions for all of my work and win awards for my designs when I was at university. But then as I said - signatures aren't really my expertise, so it's an area I'm learning about.

It seems less-isn't-more when it comes to signatures - suppose, I'll have to grin and bear it :p

An aura emanating from Phoenix is an interesting concept. Might take a look at that if I get the motivation to go back over this piece. Still can't seem to get the text right. I don't know if I'm having troubles with typeface, position, all of the above, or something completely different.
