There are 4 stages of REM. As time passes as you sleep, you go into the deeper stages until you reach stage 4. Then, you slowly get back into lower stages (stage 4 to 3, to 2, to 1) until you wake up. And the higher the stage (4 being the highest) the further sleep you go into.. so it would be extermely difficult for you to wake up while you're in stage 4.
And what I think is, during the early stages of REM, you don't get as much rest as you do in the higher stages. And if you take a nap for 15ish minutes you would only go to stage 1. So by taking 6 naps that only get you into stage 1, it would not be equivalent to having a full nights rest where you reach stage 4.
So although your mind might be tricked into thinking that you're fully rested with 4 hours of sleep, your body is not getting as much sleep.
...........Right?

Hmm.. very very interesting. I haven't heard anything about that.. I'll make some research later. But remember, everyone who was succesfull with this has stated getting more energy and alertness... so it's hard to say.Ok, I learned this years ago so some of my information may be wrong but here it goes anyways:

Like I remember a hypnotist came to our school and he actually called a few people on to the stage and did all this stuf to hypnotize them. And he was like at the end, "when you wake up you will feel really energetic" , etc. And it really did work for my friend cause he was hyper all day. But he never really got any rest.. know what I mean?
It's kind of like.. tricking your mind into believing that you have enough rest. Kind of like a drug.

Yeah, I understand... but another thing is that no one has reported negative effects physically, so maybe it's bad for you... but no one knows yet... since no one has done some intensive study on this. But I'm still willing to continue.. and ultimatly, I'm not seeking energy, but free time. So that part I don't really mind.Yeah, but there are several ways to energize yourself without sleep. But it a lot of times does not mean your body is getting the rest it needs.
