Its not secret iPods have become so popular that they overshadow alot of other great Mp3 players such as Archos and Creative Zen. Which would you buy and why?

I have an ipod and I love it. And I havn't tried any others since my Creative Zen Extra (which I had problems with and the customer service people were very difficult <_< ).If it's not broken don't fix it :p . So I doubt I'll be trying any new ones.

The one feature I miss from my creative, was the ability to make a playlist on the spot so if you want one song from one album, then have another song from another random album play, you can cue it up.

Ipods dont have that :crybaby:

iPods are by far some of the worst MP3 players out there for the price.

I actually am looking for a new MP3 player and I have a budget of 300 - 400$ for a new one.

I have to go but when I get back, I'll help you.

I personally have an RCA Lyra RD2780, 20 GB PMP (portable media player) It plays movies in AVI MP3 format, and music, and pictures, and text documents I think :D I got it for $200.00 on eBay, with all the accessories, including a leather scratch resistant case.

Nothing beats iPods price vs memory space. However, they do break and scratch waaaaaaaay too easily and I find the design unattractice.

So yeah.. if you've got 10,000 songs in your library ipod or plan to have like 50 movies ipods are the way to go. But I find all that space unnecessary and prefer iRivers anyday.

iRivers = cheapter; sexier; smaller

The only reason I chose the other MP3 players is because the price of the iPod is too high. Others need to be engineered like the iPod.

iRivers are good, but also, look at Cowon. Superior sound quality mixed in with good customer service and a pretty good price. iPod is way overrated.

<3 my Creative Zen Vision:M :p

The only reason i'd have an ipod is if it was free or considerably cheaper than any alternative (and i mean like at least £100 cheaper...)

I have an iPod video and I love it but there are better MP3 players out there. iPod is just the most popular and has the most marketing.

one problem i find with i pods is having to charge it up, if you are going on a very long journeyor cant get access to a computer you cant just replace the battery like you can with other mp3's

Apple iPods are for fashion sense. If I want music, I use Creative Zen. The Sound (and video) quality of the iPod just suck, no offense intended.

My Nano charges in 2 hours or so, really more like 1 if you want a fast charge. Maybe the smaller ones charge faster. ;)

Anyway I think its about time for Apple to introduce the 6G iPods but I heard they might not be coming out until around Christmas. :(

iTunes does suck infinitely. It takes way too long to load up. Very laggy.

If the same amount of add-ons were available for other MP3 players, I'd go against. It's sort of like Windows. It isn't the best OS, it works great for most, but others hate it. It's so widely used because it's easy and has the best compatability. (I'm really stupid when it comes to computers, so if I'm completely wrong, don't poke me in the eye with a screwdriver =/)

I guess the same could be applied to an iPod. It's not the best, works good for most, others hate it. It has a bunch of add-ons and it's easy to use.

I agree that iPods are not the best MP3 player. iRivers and MobiBlu are both better to me, but I need the storage space offered with iPods. I have over 30,000 tracks and I would like a majority of them.

Well, as much as I can.
