So today I was driving in my car up to see my girlfriend at work. I normally listen to TK101 which is a rock station on the FM side of course. Well a gay song came on so I changed it to another station and panic at the disco's " I write sins not tragedies" came on. It's not the best song in the world, but sure beats the hell out of what was on TK. I started to listen to it and I realized that the beeped at the word god but not the word damn.

I got up to see my girlfriend and was like WTF is this bull shit. Stupid politically correct bull crap. Then she told me that in the music video on MTV they don't say it either instead they cross their fingers and put them over their mouths.

What kind of bull crap is that?

Well, in the uncut video, they still put their fingers over their mouths. Another song that aired on MTV, Four Kicks by Kings of Leon - "You and your switchblade posse" - switchblade was cut out.

I declare this thread as a big, hearty, FUCK YOU to censorship.

I thought it was so much bull shit. I almost wanted to just turn the station and not listen to that station any more, but then I realized it wasn't the station it was the dumb ass people who handle the censorship.

We censor such trivial words yet women appear basically naked on t.v xD

Not saying that censorships necessarily a good thing... but at least get priorities straight...

On the stations I listen to, they sometimes play that panic at the disco song, and at first, they played all the lyrics, including whore and god-damn, but then, all of a sudden, all the stations played the more censored version :( it sounds terrible

if the words were together, i completly understand and support it, but if the words were completly seperate then thats stupid, censorship has become a lot nowadays, on MTV they blurr out someones skin? or like some girl was wearing jeans and the blurred out the jeans? seriously, MTV blurs super random now

Yeah I am pretty sure the station I am talking about used to play the uncensored version.

Blurred out clothing is because they are too cheap to pay the owners of the specific company X amount of dollars to be allowed to display it. (Labels are blurred out).

I love how skank and slut can be said on TV, but not God O_o

Damn censorship! It's so fucking stupid! Do they realize they're really not making a difference by censoring these kind of words? That really pisses me off!

I hate censorship, althought I do agree that to a certain level it is needed and it does help. Things like this, I wish we could just hear the lyrics.

Even though God or Damn arn't horrible words when they standalone, when you put them together thus forming Goddamn, it is much worse.

Censorship does make a difference...

That's not what Marine's complaining about. It's the censorship of the wrong things.

And that's what I was also saying O_o

Notice: Do they realize they're really not making a difference by censoring these kind of words?

In Eminem's song Superman, they edited out the word "Tampax" on the radio version. I think it had to do with it rhyming with "anthrax", which was also cut from the song.

"Put ... on your Tampax and slap you till you can't stand" would have made it a lot easier to guess what word was edited out than, for example:

"Put ... on your ... and slap you till you can't stand"

Oh, well. Fuck it.

I listen to TK101 alot and never really noticed :p Regardless, it is still silly for them to censor out the wrong things to be "Politically correct". Also like Pyke said, they censor the name God and then practically have naked women on TV :p

Although cencorship is important, I do think it can go too far.

You can't show a label for Ph33r of being sued, You can't use a word accepable kn todays normal society, like in schools or on the streets for "Phear of the ikkle ones will start to use EVIL words like damn and even blaspheme!" Everything in moderation, but right now i think we need slightly less cencoring, so that we can enjoy things the way the artist intended.

What? Why would they pay the owners? It should be the opposite, really. It's good advertizing :p

Maybe the owners of the business didn't pay them.
