This billboard on the streets of Amsterdam and on the Dutch site promotes the white PSP by displaying an image of a white woman holding a black woman’s face.
Please Discuss......I think its racist :whistling:

It's advertising the new White PSP...
    It's not racist.
Don't be so over-sensitive about such irrelevancies.
It's people like you that would take the munchkins out of The Wizard of Oz, saying they were being exploited.

    I agree with you Joe.

This is only showing that the white PSP will knock the socks off the black PSP, although it is questionable, that is all it means.

Although I disagree that the white PSP is better, I love my black PSP.

The only reason you see it as racist is because we live in a society that's told us that anything that looks even remotely offensive to any ethnic group or minority = taboo, especially when it comes to black people (y'know, the whole slavery thing? <_<)

Now think about it: Do the Dutch have that mark against them in their past? I'm going with a "no" here.

Really, I think the advertisement is kinda clever. But it would never fly here in the US. That's why you don't see it here.

I'd have to say that it could easily be viewed as racist, and i'm not 'over-sensitive' as Joe said...

They didnt have to use black and white people in the advert, but they did and by showing a white person dominating a black person it could obviously be seen as racist, however i really doubt it was meant to be racist.

Its only to show that the white psp will be as good if not better than the black psp. No racial stuff behind it... we americans take many things too seriously... really too seriously. Its nothing but good advertising.

Dutch had the world's oldest slave trade :/

    Hmm..
    Well..

    I stand corrected, then.

Though it's obvious that the ad doesn't carry nearly as much social stigma as it does here in the US.

It's all good here. I believe that over 50% of everybody in the United States is raised up in school and/or family to believe that something like that is racist. Anyways, who cares. The white PSP everybody knows owns the hell out of the black one. I wish I could trade mine in. :p

Americans are too worried these days about being politically correct. Those ads by Sony were never meant to be seen by Americans eyes.

Of course, I mean ; there isn't a network of millions upon millions of computers that can interact and talk about stupid contraversial things.. :whistling:

He means they weren't designed for an American target audience.

Obviously some banana will post them all over the internet for being "racist"
That happens to everything these days. Even my guinie (sp?) pig is on YouTube being a "racist"

-Moved to debate, as this topic seems to be escalating into general advert/racism discussion ^_^-

The only problem I really have with it... is the fact that she's touching him with what looks like a latex glove. Notice that the other hand is ungloved as well. So... umm... *cough* that could be taken out. I could just be reading a little too much into it though.

...either that or the Michael Jackson look is in again. Though I hope not.

I think you are looking too much into it Tet... It's just an ad, Sony wouldn't put something they thought would hurt their sells into a billboard... :p

From what I heard from a co-worker there are two other ads as well, and one of them shows the black person pinning down the white person. Anyone got any pictures of those?

Yes I agree. It's just an advertisment of a white PSP. It's hardly anything to get worked up over. Perhaps instead of being so "over-sensitive" about a bilboard...Perhaps we should be more focused on protecting the earth, world peace, and stoping human exploitation for low income in third world countries...I don't know...Those are just a few that I came up with on the spot. Wouldn't you agree though?
