What type of internet do you use??
It's either a DSL or LAN conection from Comcast. I tried calling them but they're not much help.

But if you don't want to do that then try disabling the connection and re enabling it.. that sometimes works.
Or go into your connections info, right click on the connection thats not working and click properties and then click properties again on the window that opened and see if the connection is using the correct card you have in your computer to connect to the internet...
Thats all I can think of as of now.. all little things to try, but there is only so much to do with connections before you can't to anything else

Unplug your internet "box"(Srry cant think of the name)(The thing that has the line that goes to your PC) If you have a router unplug that as well. Then plug them both in.

If its a brand new computer reformating would just be a waste of time.

Hmmm I don't know what to tell ya... I know why mine is slow(kicks stupid aol box) But yours should be running fine... All I can tell you is to switch your phone cord to a newer one (phone cord) and see if that would work.It is. I took it out of the box today morning.

Go to control panel>>>network connections>>> and pick your connection, (most likely "local area network") and right click it and click properties.
Now, under the "This connection uses the following items" text, you'll find a list. Scroll down to Internet Protocol TCP/IP and click properties. Make sure both top boxes are clicked, they will be "obtain an ip address automatically" and "obtain dns automatically."
Apply any changes. IF this doesn't work, please click start>>>run. type cmd to bring up command prompt. now type ipconfig and let me know if you have a 169.x.x.x address (auto-configured if no dynamic ip can be obtained.)
Thanks
Well thanks anyways. I just wanted to test out the internet on the new computer. But it won't matter since my dad is getting this wireless thingy mabbobber. So w.e Thanks anyways
. Right now I'm customizing the computer with skins and stuff.
A wireless router won't be able to get an ip with which to work if you can't.
Unplug your internet "box"
modem??

You very well might have went from static to dynamic ip.

It's a shame you can't give hi-fives over the internet.
