I know I'm totally popping out of nowhere on this one but I'm down to the wire on a laptop for school and I'm at a loss.

I'm between these guys, which are both $1399... aside from stated specs, everything else is either the same or I am indifferent to it:

Acer AS5672WLMi

Intel Duo 1.66GHz
2GB DDR2 RAM
120GB HD
DVDRW
Graphics - Integrated ATI Mobility x1400 (128MB)
4 USB ports
15.4", 6.6lbs
Integrated Webcam (advantage)

and

HP nc6400

14.1", 4.6lbs
Intel Duo 1.83GHz
1GB DD2 RAM
80GB HD
DVDRW Dual Layer
Graphics - Integrated Intel 224MB
3 USB ports
14", 4.6lbs (advantage)

I just... don't... know... help

The Acer is better by a long shot smile.gif Even though the HP has a faster processor it's that much faster. =P

*nod* I was thinking that one. About the only thing going for the second is its size and the combination of processor/gfx... but the acer's memory slams the HP... I reeeally wanted a tiny laptop because I wouldn't be able to carry a large one easily. smile.gif

I've never had an Acer before though, should I be aware of any issues you guys have had?

Back in the day, I had an Acer Aspire.....but it was a desktop and ran off of Windows 98 so it was naturally shitty.

Yep, I agree with the Acer. The processor isn't much lower, although I would say it could do with upgrading but you get yourself twice as much memory, and a much bigger hard drive. It also wins the sexiness factor in terms of aesthetic appearance.

I'm going to go for the Acer but if you wanted a good suggestion...
The HP nx9600 is insane and cheaper, better stats too.
