Im an anime newbie but: Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll

[Tetiel]

Boogiepop Phantom. It'll confuse the hell out of your mind but it's still good.

[Ives]

FLCL, Evangelion, anything by Gainax.

[Ender]

I've seen all of (either all ever or all out so far):

Avatar: The Last Airbender
Naruto
Yu Yu Hakusho
Rurouni Kenshin

All of these are great to watch; I'd suggest watching Avatar first, and following in that order for anime newbies. All of them are exciting and awesome.

I'm going to start Bleach and some other shows that seem good.

i know you quit codex, but i forgot this one. i read like 11 of the english books, funny and interesting story . i saw one episode of the dubbed love hina and it was so stupid, so then i quit the whole series.

My favorites have all been listed, but if you watch DBZ I will personally squish your eyeballs well their still in their sockets untill they pop , and the get a red hot branding iron to make sure you can never get a transplant. DB was a good show, but if you go anywhere near Z or GT you've lost all hope for life.

I do recommend Kenshin (my fav) Naruto (only with subs, translations suck) Yu Yu (still trying to find a torrent or fan site with the end of the tournament) and Ghost in the shell.

As for movies, absolutely ANYTHING that has the name Miyazaki on it is worth buying 100 times over. Spirited away is widely recognized as the best anime within the past 5 years, the movies is simply phenomenal! Cartoon Network did a month of anime, premiering nothing but Miyazaki's masterpieces, the best thing that ever came to a cheap cable package.
