Do you think over the past decade or so the quality of music in the mainstream has declined? I do. Explain your thoughts regarding this situation, one knows the state of music is in bad shape when Paris Hilton can get a record contract. Pop music was always meant for mass consumption, but its lost its innovation.

Discuss why popular music sucks in 2006.

    Hey Hey Hey.

First off, you can't generalize music as a whole like that. There are many genres and attitudes. Frankly? The mainstream jazz world has never been better....

Rock is coming out with some good bands like stonesour and tenaciously.

Now, thats mainstream. Take a dive into local. Try out some local bands man.

    Purevolume.com check it out.

I was speaking in terms of the really popular stuff. Rock has been on the mend for the past few years, and the underground without doubt is where the most innovative bands are, you just got to look around. wink.gif

But Rap/Pop has been in a horrid state lately.

Your taste in music influences your opinion on popular music and where you look. If you like classical music, you won't be watching Kerrang.

Rap/HipHop is getting desperate from where i see it, but then again i never take much notice.
Dance music is the same as always.
Rock music is branching off into many different styles now, mainly being Emo, Various forms of Metal, Indie etc.

Standards of music will always vary, but they usually do for the audience. Peronally i think Emo music sucks, but over here in England the majority of teens took a liking to this music to be part of the trend. Most bands write songs for this trend and will therefore be pretty bad. It's the bands that write songs they want to write, in the style they always wanted to write, that are good...these, you'll usually find, are the ones not mainstream.
