ADHD is most definitely real, but most people diagnosed (in the US) only show a few symptoms of ADHD, which are really broad, yet still get medicine for it. Probably the reason they just give the meds and diagnosis anyways is for money.

I probably have A.D.D. but I'm doing pretty well. But I was wondering if the meds really help you out.

it's a pretty common "chemical imbalance" (i'm pretty sure it wouldn't be politically correct to call it a disorder), most parents either don't have the money, or don't think that their kid could possibly have a "chemical imbalance". some schools offer the tests, most don't. this means hiring a psychiatrist, and paying a fair ammount of money.
a lot of people with ADHD use the "omg i have a disorder, i can do whatever i wanttt". yeah, some people really do have it bad (which could perfectly be your situation), but most can control themself after proper medication is in their body. part of it really is controllable.
i personally have no problem with people who have ADHD, nor ADD. i do have a problem with people who use it as an excuse.
