Why would someone even attempt to shoot from their own half? I mean, great job on him for scoring the shot, but doesn't it look really bad even attempting it? tongue.gif

Beautiful shot, rounding up a good game. People would shoot from their own half because they see the goalie out of position and see a chance, zulf.

ok seriously that goal isnt that good, i think shots from outside the box when the goalie is actually standing up are better, nice power but just lucky

and no im not a newcastle fan

And you didn't think of how instead of keeping the ball he took the initiative to see the goalie outside the box and take suchn an amazing shot.

all he had to do was get the shot on target for people that train at football everyday and get 30k+ a week its not hard to kick the ball straight

i knew i would regret posting that it wasnt that good

We love liverpool here mate. XD.

Firstly, he didn't just kick the ball straight, he kicked it up at the exact angle and power so that it'd beat the goalie and land in the exact place, spefically between the posts. Secondly, do you think they practice shots from that far?

When he did it against Luton last season, the Luton fans stood up and cheered lol.

It's not easy to shoot a goal from your own half. And if you see the goalie out of position, then why not go for it?

    Alonso has done it twice.

It wasn't brilliant mate, just very good. I've seen better.

    Steven Gerrard vs Westham <3.

Also, I wouldn't take it as an argument, just a friendly disccusion/debate.

Cramped, and still did it with his left foot 25 yards away?

    Gerrard is a hero!

yeah i knew argument was the wrong word as soon as i typed it

and i have to admit gerrard is briliant (i have him on my fantasy football team) although he hasnt been doing too brilliant this season

I give you Mr Alan Shearer scoring a goal which takes much more skill and technique than Alonso's goal. thumbsup.gif

Meh, it's a volley; which in my eyes is not at all as great as Alonso's goal. Maybe it's just because I find volleys easier than long kicks, but I think they're overrated.

I'm not saying it's an easy goal to execute, but I don't think it matches to the Liverpool one.

Each to their own though, I guess.

I think Volleys are harder to get the right direction, etc on. But Xavi's goal is just class.
