I think they're both ridiculously hard markets to break into.

For the first one, you'd need a totally unique angle, and basis. Also, a good userbase to leech users from, too. Don't think you can get that here 1we8.gif

For the second, you'd need WTFBBQ awesome graphics and html/php/css(etc) skills, and a fortune to spend on advertising.

Ok dude. I'm gonna be 100% blatant honest with you. Your not good. People are not gonna buy those. If your trying to get adults to buy them you need to make them proffesional. Brushing in a banner and using grunge text isnt proffesional. Neither is adding 3 gradients.

Look at some well put together sites or sites that sell proffesional templates. Of course then again you could go for the rich little kids who own clans for games who need templates. In that case go look for places that sell clan templates.

I would either spend a few years practicing templates, or do the forum thing.

Theres another thing. Dont count on spending hours on a layout.. Expect to spend days/weeks. Trust me. If you make a layout in a few hours, its not good. I can obviously tell your just beginning in layouts and I can honestly say this isn't the job for you, sorry.

Trust me u don't know how patient I can be, I would be prepared to spend a while making a layout for other businesses and websites because I don't do much on the internet and I have a LOT of spare time.

Oh well I'm goin now cuz i got nothing more to do online so I'll just watch a lot of TV c ya and I'll reply when I get back online! C ya!

    Yeah, that's all true, sorry.
You need to identify your target audience. Do some market research. Are kids going to spend like $50 on website templates? Not many. Adults are who you want to go for, they are the ones who generally set up websites, and can afford to pay that much. And seriously, they are going to want something PROFESSIONAL, UNIQUE (your site has to stand out from all the rest of the established template sites out there) and CLEAN. Brushed layouts are certainly not going to appeal to their eyes nor their customers.

When you've never even made a decent layout (from what you're saying, that's how it sounds) how can you expect to start a business based on that?

That 'sample' layout is shit, plain and simple.

A good layout takes a lot of time, effort, and skill. By your claims, you have the time. I just don't see you being able to put the effort forward to become skilled at this sort of thing before you become bored with it and move on.

Don't quit your day job. Unless that is your day job, and if that's the case you're fucking screwed.

PS. This belongs in the GFX chat.

Well perhaps you could do some surveys beforehand with a few pieces of your work to see whether people would buy it or not and then decide whether you wanna continue to make a web design page.

Oh my bad! I'll let him start a job at which he won't do good at. Hes obviously asking for our oppinions and I gave him mine. Thats getting personal? Its called CnC. If he wasn't smart enough to show us his best work, when were basically deciding what he should do, thats his fault.

Since you've become private, you've turned into a bit of a dick, Justin...

I like your layout, even though it's plain and simple.

Ok, WTF? Balmung was giving Honest CnC to someone and you call him a dick head. Thats what your supposed to do. Your not supposed to be like, 'Yeah thats good go and make a site and you'll make Thousands!', when you clearly know that he isn't THAT good.

Justin may have been harsh, but he didn't sugarcoat the truth, thats good. The layout isn't anything great. Keep working at it and if you give up on that you could try your other idea 1we8.gif.
