I really don't know a lot, but I know one issue with my friend's graphics card was that he didn't have the right motherboard. That could be the same case for RAM, so find out what motherboard you have and make sure it's compatible.

    Hope I helped! smile.gif

So that's what those letters mean. I always saw them and thought about Dance Dance Revolution, but never knew what they meant.

And my roomie just told me newegg.com is a good place to buy stuff for cheap.

if you dont overclock than buy DDR400 (PC3200) and if the ram you buy isnt the exact same as what you have now (brand/timings/speed)

go download CPU-Z and check whether your rams run on DDR or DDR2..

my opinion is that you should buy another 256mb ram of the same model and make of the one that you are currently using to enable the dual channel performance..

if he has a dual channel motherboard, and if he only has 1 stick total now.. makes me think its a single channel board

    http://cpuid.com = the link to download CPU-Z smile.gif

Yes make sure you know what your motherboard can handle. Also, know what type of RAM, open the PC and right on the RAM stick it will tell you the proper number of the RAM.

open up your computer and check if you have 2 ram slots or 4, if you have 4, I would probably buy another 256 stick, if you have 2 it doesnt really matter

Im not at my dads now(where the pc is) but im pretty sure there is 3. XD So i was thinking 1 more 256 and 1 512.

But i need a new graphics card also and my dad was saying they have built in memory or something. So would i be better off buying a new graphics card instead?

Vid cards do have memory built in to help things run smooth. Is this going to be used for gaming?

Since your computer is older Im going to assume it needs an AGP card.
I've never really looked into AGP cards, so check out www.gpureview.com - Their superlatives tab has the best deal for your price range too. Then check it out on newegg.
