I've always wanted to move to America, it's not that I don't enjoy living in England, but its just the fact I need to explore a bigger and hopefully better place. Also I really want to stick with programming, and it just seems a good place to start. I'm 16 at the moment and my birthdays in July, what year would I be looking at to be in at school or would I be in college? Has anyone here immigrated to another country(legally)?

    Well, I hope you do!
    It's great here.
Let me explain the schools and stuff:

You start and Kindergarten (5 years old)
    1st grade (6)
    2nd grade (7)
    3rd grade (8)
    4th grade (9)
    5th grade (10)
    6th grade (11)
    7th grade (12) [my grade]
    8th grade (13)
    9th grade (14) freshmen
    10th grade (15) sophmore
    11th grade (16) junior
    12th grade (17) senior
    ---
Most kids get held back or have a late birthday, so the ages aren't the same for everyone.
After 12th grade your free, and can go to college/get a job/program all you want!
    ---
BTW, are you ever gonna update neocodex (the ultimate autobuyer)

    7th grade (13)
    8th grade (14)
    9th grade (15) freshmen
    10th grade (16) sophomore
    11th grade (17) junior
    12th grade (18) senior

American schools aren't as great as many people think. Theres plenty of other countries with higher standards in education than over here.

I am one of the younger kids in my class, nobody has been held back, thanks for implying. >.>

Besides that, I don't know the quality of schooling, I go to a private school.

Shabba, I'd wait until you've finished college (if you plan to go) before emigrating. With a little job training you'd do fine in an american university. I know the education system is a little different on the other side of the pond, but from what I understand finishing college is like finishing high school over here: if you don't do it, you flip burgers for the rest of your life.

Yeah, wait until you've finished college. Then you wouldn't have to worry about that stuff while you're here.

If you love universal health care, social programs, quality education and lots of free space... Canada FTW. tongue.gif

But if you're on the same continent as Canada, I'll let that slide. wink.gif tongue.gif

You'll be a juniour or sophomore in high school. Most of my friends were 16 when I was a sophomore but I was 15, and I had some friends who were 15 too.

I'd go with Canada rather than the USA personally. It's like the middle ground between the UK and the US, and there's less Americans of course (which is always a good thing, although there are more French people dry.gif). At least finish 6th form before you go though, and if you do want to go to university, do it over here or it'll cost alot more over there. thumbsup.gif

Canada ftw. Much more.. spacious.. and the health care isnt 'free', you just dont pay extra like you do in america and such (all from 14% tax rate wacko.gif)

and LW, the frenchies are pretty much only in Quebec.. which nobody wants to go to because they call themselves 'A Nation within a Country' wacko.gif

yeah Canada is cool too, I love the cold, that's why I want to move to southern africa.
actually the weather in Zimbabwe is pretty much the same as where I live now (30 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter, 90 degrees in the summer)

I'd move to Canada if I could, it seems like a nice place wink.gif America is pretty cool too though, good education, good jobs(eh, in some places.) Still, it's probably wise to finish getting educated in the UK though... tongue.gif

at this rate in the UK there will be no "proper british" people as they would all have moved to america/canada. the country would be filled with imigrants from eastern europe
