So I'm lying in bed here in my dorm room watching a movie on my laptop, and I realize... holy crap. It reeks of fart in here, and I swear it's not me... lookaround.gif

no, really, I swear. It was driving me nuts, but sorta made me a bit lonely for the other Canadian girl who was here (but left before christmas, she hated it here.), as we would always watch movies together, and she was the GASSIEST person you'd ever meet. I mean, holy crap. but whenever one of us would fart, the other would force one out, and then the other would reciprocate. good times, good times.

So then I got to wondering, smells trigger different emotions, thoughts, feelings and memories... for example, the smell of hungarian cabbage rolls cooking make me feel all warm and fuzzy and happy and stuff, cuz it's a family dish which everyone makes on special occasions and stuff...

and then there's the smell of my kitty, whom I love to sniff all the time... she lies on my pillow, and I'll bury my face in her fur, and just inhale and sniff her. she smells so good. One thing I really miss is sniffing my poor kitty.

Then there's the smell of this certain perfume-ish body mist thing I use every so often mixed with some odd cologne thingie (I'm not sure exactly what he wears) which whenever I smell it, it's like an instant 'butterflies in stomach, tinglie feelings down south' reaction.

anyways, I was wondering...

what are some of the different smells which to you trigger such emotions, thoughts, feelings or memories?

haha, my dad NEVER wears cologne, and so whenever I smell it, I know that my parents are going out somewhere. XD

the smell of dirt and dust reminds me of my dad, hell, I remember days when I came home after a hard day of working the bobcat, and having a layer of dust on me so thick, I could draw smilie faces all over myself. XD

That orange spice smell always, always reminds me of christmas. It's great. And the smell of burnt wood reminds me of my old house from when I was a kid as we had a wood fireplace and I used to sit by it. Just... pleasant. Then of course there's the smell of yeast which reminds me of the fresh bread my mom made. I love going to wineries for that very reason happy.gif

ahh, yes, our maids used to use my mom's 'orange glow' (it's like a wood polisher/moisturizer oil thing, smells like oranges) all the time on all of the wood in our house, on our stairwell and everything, so the smell of oranges makes me think of cleaning. XD

Colognes always remind me of boys I know. It's weird because I can't tell most perfumes apart but I can remember the exact guy who wore something or other without having known the name of it before. Brut beings me back to a pretty scary bus trip in my freshman year, I don't remember the name of my old boyfriend's cologne but I can recognize the smell anywhere, Very Sexy for men reminds me of my senior year, and Armani something reminds me of my first college fling.

Roses and lilting scents always make me think of my friend Elizabeth. Heady smells remind me of Kara. They say sandalwood, musk, and spices remind them of me. happy.gif

And the boys' room from college always smells like a really odd mixture of melon febreeze over pot. Hehe.

I think my girlfriend smells really good. This is without perfume...I hate perfume. It gives me headaches. Anyone else have a significant other with a distinct, good smell?
